Taken from "Critter Science" blog: A squirrel with dark coloration, just an amazingly large tail, and long tufted ears that point slightly backwards. Along the long-thin body are orange, white and black striping. The tail looks almost exactly like one of those dust-trapping dusters.
The Tufted ground squirrel (Rheithrosciurus macrotis) is a riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in floof.
Let's start with the *FLOOF* & talk about why they're called "VAMPIRE SQUIRRELS" last.
They have the largest tail: body size ratio of any mammal on Earth: the tail is *130%* the size the body.

Fascists and Nazis hate history, and historians; but understand the power of history. Thats why, across the world, they work so hard to control HOW we tell stories about the past, to drive out diverse critical voices and perspectives, to ensure a narrative that makes them look good.

The first panel shows a crow with the title "How to live a good life". The second panel shows a crow cawing at itself in the mirror with the subheading "Make friends". The next panel says "Explore" and shows a crow looking into a commercial waste bin. The next says "Try new things" with a crow eating something vile. The next one says "Be curious" and shows the crow grabbing a hissing cat's tail". The final frame says "Get a hobby" and shows the crow looking closely at a book of matches.

This disabled parrot has become king by learning to ‘joust’
Despite missing his entire upper beak, Bruce the kea is winning at life
No beak? No problem. Despite his disability, Bruce the parrot beats all of his rivals in combat. He's done it by inventing a fighting style reminiscent of jousting or fencing. “He doesn’t have to open his bill. He’s just got this dagger.” Really fun story by @phiejacobs.bsky.social for @science.org

Two train sections, one each along the length of the photo, both inside a ferry boat with a blue floor and white walls. There are yellow sections on the floor indicating safe areas to walk and highlighting the rails integrated into the floor. The trains are close together at the prow of the boat, with daylight glowing between the trains where they almost meet.
Photo taken from the deck of a boat, with a large open area to the floor below. A navy train with a red stripe has a "comfort" logo in white showing a person laying down. The floor under the train is blue with bright yellow markings. The battery on top of another train section it in the foreground. Water and islands are visible beyond the boat.
I took an overnight train from Milan to Sicily, and the train drove onto a ferry, we all got off and enjoyed the boat, and then the train drove off the ferry.

"Computer Conversations: how to talk to your new co-worker."
It is a vintage-style handbook cover featuring a late 60s stylized computer on the left and an office worker rabbit (she/her) on the right having a conversation.

A human hand holds a baguette loaf under a chrome colored faucet in a kitchen sink, with a white tile backsplash. Is it bad that I can't picture a woman wearing a black long sleeve shirt without picturing Elizabeth Holmes?
Imagine you have a loaf of crusty bread that's gone stale. No mold, but hard as a rock.
You put it under running water & stick it in a 400°F (200°C) oven for 10 minutes. Now it's soft & delicious as fresh-baked.
What strange & wonderful BREAD MAGIC is this?!
Let's talk about retrogradation.

It is very funny when this post gets rediscovered and people are like "this doesn't look like Anubis!?" I know, I am aware, that's how the MET describes it.
This figurine was bought from a collector in the 60s, and that's what happens when you lose the archaeological context, you dont know anymore!
