Also idk what your growing zone is but alyssum is a ground cover flower that goes hog wild in summer and lasts for a long while. It dies in the winter but generally self-seeds so it should come back year after year.

absolutely same. All of the gardening books I look at are targeted at extremely meticulous people and that is so not how i enjoy myself lol.

Tons of veggies thrive by just chucking seeds in the soil and raking them in. Carrots and spinach are the two that come to mind immediately.
