While Starmer's Labour has shifted to the right, the membership of the Green Party under Zack Polanski grows. Much like Mamdani, Polanski campaigns on an explicitly socialist agenda that is down-to-earth and compelling, unlike the cyborg-like communications of the Labour party. Polanski pushes a wealth tax, affordable housing and free childcare - striking similar to Mumdani. It's hard to find hope at a time when environmental protections are being destroyed, a war has decimated Gaza, and the far right is never too far away. Mamdani may be the new mayor of New York, but Trump is still the president of the United States and has threatened to withhold federal funding to the city. But what Mamdani's victory shows us is that the elite don't always win, and the politics of pessimism is failing - at least on the streets of New York. That, for a short while, should allow a brief moment of hope.

Reform were polling at 15% on 3rd July last year. They became 1st by end of April this year. That’s 10 months.
Today @greenparty.org.uk are at 15%. My guess: we can reach 1st place by August next year at the earliest.
