I debunked the “An Inconvenient Study” documentary. It was bad. I had a bad time. But the video turned out great. May my sacrifice help you in your fight against anti-vaccine influencers. youtu.be/KhRZFw2DCBI?...
The research “contributes hugely to the critical evidence that a house is a social determinant of health, a factor that is largely overlooked by health practitioners and those involved in building and construction,” adds Bernard Abong’o, an entomologist at the Kenya Medical Research Institute.

La Nakba du Liban-Sud
Lebanese francophone outlet L’Orient Le-Jour: the Nakba of South Lebanon.
We Lebanese are calling it for what it is: a continuation of the 1948 Nakba.
The photo shows a Lebanese village with an Israeli flag on it, planted by the genocidal army.

Awesome! I love archives! I've been digging into the history of the Children's Vaccine Initiative (as part of a broader investigation into the "way things are done now" in the vaccine world) and finding scraps where Bill Foege is trying to make sense of the world's vaccine production landscape... :)

Interesting analysis... class in SA is largely visible in its absences: the voices not heard and people not seen. In public schools and hospitals often demoralised staff are forced to "keep order" in the face of a vast mismatch between resources and needs.

I was talking to a colleague about a promising new early warning system for cholera... and how the warnings were falling on deaf ears "you see the people affected are poor, its hard to get authorities to take action" I was told. Plus ça change...

Thinking of friends in Lebanon, and all Lebanese who have hopes pinned on another "peace deal" being implemented by parties, with a track record of invading territories and violating ceasefires at will with no repercussions whatsoever.
In South Africa btw political culture is dominated by bombastic narratives. Party members that greet each other as "fighter", "guerilla", "chief". Its all too easy to graft a simplistic narrative of manly power onto this.
disappearance in both Kenya and Burkina Faso (and, to be honest, South Africa, although structured differently there). Of course the language barrier (mostly from the anglophone side) & enforced lack of visible voices doesn't help...
I think its not just hope but structure. The Alliance of Sahel States / Anti-Western Alliance (with Russia) sounds like something a lot grander than desperate struggles against resolutely neoliberal administrations. People don't seem to make the connection between e.g. extrajudicial killings and..
Israel detonating what’s left of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon.
They were already destroyed. Israel is obliterating everything.
Day 2 of the “ceasefire” between Lebanon and the genocidal nation
International journalists have been barred from Gaza for two years and seven months.
It's been seven months since the "cease fire" came into force, and two months since the Rafah crossing started to operate.
Israel continues to prevent the entry of journalists.
🏴☠️Sudan’s crisis is being deepened by neglect, underfunding, and continued outside support for armed actors. Civilians are paying the price.

Joined the dots on a lot of events I knew bits of from other narratives, and introduced some I knew nothing about, like the history of Sao Tome and Kongo's adoption of Christianity and diplomacy with Europe.
