So.... Sorry for the long sappy post, but this award AND it being named after such an important person in my life, means EVERYTHING to me 💚💚

Then I started spending time with the Pioneers (mostly cigar socials initially), slowly extending my queer family and learning more about myself. As I built bonds with my favorite leather folks I learned that Matthew was a pivotal member of this organization, that meamt so much to me, as well.

MAFB gave the love & community my spouse & I were missing as transplants. After diving into the band & joining the board I learned HOW big Matthews contributions to the ensemble were & how much he meant to my new family. It made me so happy to know that his family had become mine as well.

Many of you do not know this, but Matthew Novotny is one of the most influential people in my building queer community in KC and I NEVER met him or spoke to him in person. One day I reached out to him on Scruff to ask where he performed because I was looking for a band home and I found MAFB...

I'm very grateful to all my sweet @kcpioneers.bsky.social friends for giving me the (first) Matthew Novotny Associate Member of the Year award last night. It's crazy to think that I can earn an award for wanting to spend time with and help out my friends. This community has come to mean so much 2 me

It’s TDOV and i invite all the cis people who follow me to reflect on the trans people they have in their lives. If the only way trans people are in your life is for sex I really challenge you to make deeper connections and see us beyond sexual objects 🫡
