A tilemap with water, coastal colliders, grass and desert, with a placeholder player sprite and a lighting shader.

The first bit of visuals for my new project. I've been testing with #shaders in #Love2d. This is a dual tilemap with a system that converts two black and white 32x32 pictures to this. Shaders convert black and white pixels to the right terrain type. #GameDev

Tank game by Xrocetoxtos A top-down tank shooter with turrets, catapults and jet fighters to fight.

So here's my little arcade tank game. Anyone ready to play it and tell me your high scores?

I attended one of those publisher/crypto meetings, and let me tell you:

None of them cared about the end product.

They have been crapping in this pond for years and are now surprised there are tons of crap swimming in it but little to no fish.

Their solution? Throw more crap, faster, cheaper.

White outlines around the tank, the enemies and projectiles. The tank's sprite is kind of clouded by an explosion, because it's being hit while taking the screenshot.

A white outline around the sprites makes them more visible for the visually impaired. #Accessibility #GameDev

I'm not happy about the fact that the tank and to a lesser extend the plane enemy are visible against the green/grey background, so I repainted them to blue and orange respectively. Having said that, I AM happy about this narrow escape that I happened to record, So i'll share it! #GameDev #PixelArt

... but its collider ignores walls, so it can shoot over walls. Would that be nice?

And another question about the above gif: The turrets shoot when the player gets nearby, which is fine. They hit walls all the time, which is also fine, but maybe it's also cool to have some sort of catapult type enemy, which shoots slower than the turret and at a lower distance

Hi #GameDev people! Here's some gameplay in my WOP tank game. I have set the speed of the tank to about 3 times the intended speed for testing, but it feels very nice to be rather quick. Shall I leave it at the quick speed?

In playtesting matters probably yes, but I get to decide when the computer is turned off and when there will be candy!

Haha sure. It's also interesting that my playtester has no experience with the arrow keys. Funny we take things like arrow keys and mouse pointers for granted. He does not.

My four year old was very disappointed about the first level of my game, because it was too difficult. I'm adding a very easy one with a clear path, few enemies and lots of health packs. Will ask him later. #GameDev #DadDev

#TileMaps are not at all tricky until they are. Spent some time to find number 15 while that should be easy. #GameDev

It's no #ZeroDay today, because in the 30 minutes I had, I implemented screenshake for my game. #GameDev

One of the things of not going to work is the lack of commute which also means I have a huge backlog of podcasts to listen to and no time, because I'm not taking two 1:30 hour walks a day now.

Hey #GameDev people and #Gamer people, if you were to play my top down tank game and finish the level (get to the finish line at the other side of the map, would it be interesting if your time was kept so you could attack your personal best? With or without leader boards and the like.

These are the turret enemies. They shoot at the direction of the player every 2 seconds. They need more polish, but this is about what they're going to do. #GameDev #Love2d

Almost all my sons favourite games on the tablet now are being overrun by ads every 30 seconds... He's starting to ask me questions now that he saw I can make games... #GameDev #DadLife

I just started making a little tank game in #love2d because my 4 year old son seems to like the tank game on his little retro arcade thingy most, but he finds it too difficult. Retro arcade thingies are good for gamejam inspiration. #GameDev
