Blackstone owns everything from Ancestry.com to Tricon Residential, whose CEO was on 60 minutes discussing his part in the Housing crisis and skyrocketing prices. The governing Ontario PCs enabled Tricon to avoid rent control laws by creating tenancy laws that specifically benefitted Tricon.

Tomorrow is voting day in a highly consequential election and the choice is clear.

Canada needs a majority government. Canada has many political parties but only one can hold a majority.

Liberals are best positioned to manage Canadians’ priorities.

Vote red!

Prime Minister @markcarneyforpm.bsky.social met with president Trump by phone today, describing the call as “cordial” and “substantive” while speaking in Montreal.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said he thinks “things will work out very well” between Canada and the U.S.

Poilievre speaks about his mom who gave him up for adoption to two teachers, one of whom came out as gay when he was a teen.

His Dad was planning to get married to a man when Pierre voted against equal marriage the second time. He brought his Dad to watch the vote from the House of Commons gallery.

The scenario I just described isn’t much different from our current situation, except the NDP would lose party status while still holding the balance of power. If no party reaches 172 seats it will either be the Bloc or NDP that takes one of the two parties over the majority threshold.

Not saying they would be better off but they would be very relevant because regardless of whether they have party status, in that one scenario they would hold the balance of power. It’s too soon to say whether the seat count will be anything close to the numbers i just threw out there to you though.

So long as we have a Westminster democracy, we won’t have a two party system but we do have a two-governing party system already, as only the two have ever formed government. The NDP are what prevents us from becoming entirely two party, our current minority seat count is a good example of how.

Sorry your post wasn’t clear, the unite the right efforts by Harper were actually the effort he made to merge the three right parties, Reform, PC and Alliance. Hence why your post seemed to suggest a merger of NDP and Liberal parties wholly.

Let’s say the seat count is 165 liberal, 130 Conservative, 2 Green, 34 Bloc and 7 NDP. Yes they would lose party status but they would still hold the balance of power. That wouldn’t be a two party system at all as the NDP becomes quite relevant. But there is no sense in joining forces at this point.

The latest polling shows the NDP winning approximately 7 seats nationally. There is little to no advantage of combining the two even on an individual riding basis never mind nationally to combine the parties wholly.

Not going to happen, nor would you want it to. We would end up with a 2-party system like the USA which is largely why they are so dysfunctional.

Congratulations to newly-sworn-in Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Mark Carney.

He is easily the most qualified Canadian to deal with the challenges of the day.

“We have fought and died alongside you... During your darkest hours... we were always there. Standing with you, grieving with you, the American people... Canadians are a little perplexed as to why our closest friends and neighbors are choosing to target us."

- Justin Trudeau

Ruby Dhalla is entitled to her opinion.

That sentiment, spoken by anyone, isn’t likely one shared by the majority of Liberal party members.

Due process is important here, it acts like a nanny for fairness and equality in the leadership race, and ultimately it will determine who prevails.

Our Parliamentary Guards should not be taken for granted. They truly stand on guard for thee and should have the full force of the Government of Canada behind them as they do their job.

Anybody who intends to test them should be penalized accordingly, not pardoned from legitimate 18 year sentences.

A new Liberal Leader is to be chosen by March 9, 2025.

This will be a very fast selection process.

Are all of the provinces now considering signing on to a constitution given that it has actually never happened, and technically it is a requirement for them to do so in order for the constitution to be valid?

Ok, but talking as a dictator-elect (🙄) and being one are not far apart for a man who is known for doing what he says.

Day 1 is the day after he is certified. The inauguration is just ceremonial to him. Once it was certified yesterday, now he can’t be stopped in his view.

Donald Trump has been attacking our Prime Minister because he wants PP as PM, he sees PP as the weaker link and an easier target to get what he wants - to acquire Canada.
