I’m also in Australia but haven’t come across a whole lot of working/easily fixable c64s. I’ve only come across one Facebook group (Australian Commodore 64/128 Collectors).

I guess I’ll just keep an eye out, or pull the trigger on a c64u.

Where are you finding original hardware? Are you in the UK? I know it was popular there back in the day.

Only works on older tvs and os versions btw. Hopefully you haven’t updated recently.
