In my very limited time in the fandom, @goodboyliger.com has held my paw each step of the way. And anyone who knows me knows how transformative a year it’s been as a result. I already looked up to him like a big brother, but to hear it all official at the end of his panel was a real magical moment 🥹

I never would have imagined anyone finding me endearing enough to actually consider their little sister, hell most times I’m shocked when people say they consider me a friend!

It’s a type of relationship I’m kinda sad to not have not had, but trust @babyfurcon.com to be the place where I got one! 😂

In that case let me tell you something my boss told me, not verbatim, but it went like this

“Working with kids this young, you need to be a bit of a kid yourself. And if this is what brings you closer to your inner child, embrace it, because it’s only gonna help you connect with them better”

It’s partly why I try to keep her as sanitised and SFW as possible. So she can still be a character kids can connect to?

But at the same time, she’s an artistic outlet for a lot of trauma, so finding a comfortable balance where certain connotations can be avoided is still something I struggle with

Broker is kinda intended to be like a protagonist from a kids book series, and to them that’s totally what she was! I took a custom plush into work with me for puppet shows, and even had colouring sheets commissioned for them to enjoy!

A lot of my colleagues knew, and whilst I never went into detail about my personal connections to Broker, the kids knew I had this imaginary character who was special to me. And she kinda became special to them too!

That’s so valid. It totally adds another layer to the anxiety

I’ve never been much for keeping the babyfur stuff hidden, but then again I’m not super kinky, so could take solace in babyfur being that kind of “weird trait”you mentioned, as opposed to something that could be misconstrued in that way

Idk it really sucks. Cus trans people make up some of the most nurturing friends I have, and it’s almost like they aren’t allowed to put that to good use without causing a stir?

I got looks for sure, and parents of newcomers often gave the impression they were tryna suss me with more intent than they gave my colleagues

But I feel extraordinarily lucky to have never had a BAD experience like that with a parent. Cus thats like, a universal thing for trans folk in childcare?

Kids are great fun! Exhausting, but their energy can be so infectious at times it helps you keep your head in the game!

Lot of big emotions for folk so tiny, but they understood all my obscure Bluey references which was awesome 😂

That was definitely an anxiety of mine too haha (AMAB as well :) Always with the adults though? There’s that old adage about hate being taught and its so true. Cus despite being broader shouldered and smaller chested than some of my colleagues, none of the kids cared so long as I drew pics for em! 🥹

Idk I just wish i was normal, someone who wouldn’t think twice about taking the opportunities life gives you, the way any capable, able bodied, sound minded person would

I mean heck, I loved it for the same reasons I’m a babyfur tbh, cus childhood is magical, and though I’m not a kid in body anymore, I could keep that spark of magic ignited for others. Bring joy to people in such a special time of their lives?

I want so bad to be cut out for it. But the idea of going back really scares me….

I was admittedly never as capable or knowledgable as my colleagues were, but I loved that job with all my heart. Making kids laugh or being able to comfort them when they cried just felt so meaningful?
