The infamous US DOE climate report, written by a bunch of climate misinformers, claims that "sea level [is] rising at a lower rate than predicted" by the IPCC up to 2050.
Not true. If you simply take the observed rise and extrapolate (blue), you get the same rise as IPCC predicted by 2050. 1/2
a chart showing rising dc power consumption but flatlining renewable growth levels
Nice FT citing Ireland, where data centre power demand has massively outpaced clean power growth - meaning increased burning of fossil fuels
You can't rely on an assumption of infinite, exponential, unstoppable renewable energy to excuse data centre expansionism.

“To turn a whole movement into a terrorist organisation is quite another matter”
Labour's Baroness Chakrabarti spoke after 532 people were arrested at a protest in support of banned group Palestine Action
Reynolds then talks about the
- £3.4 billion from UK-US tariff deal
- £14 billion from UK-EU reset
- £4.8 billion from UK-India
That's £22 billion, which doesn't come close to recovering the £140 billion in trade with the EU that is lost by keeping the UK outside the EU Single Market
Good to see this issue being raised. I don't think most people realise that councils can't/won't maintain the roads on many new housing estates, so the owners have to pay for it privately. This isn't fair, as they're paying the same council tax as everyone else, to maintain other roads.
This graphic from the SDG Report 2025 shows that 2024 was the hottest year on record, with global temperatures reaching 1.55°C above pre-industrial levels. It features a rising temperature graph from 1850 to 2024 and includes SDG 13: Climate Action.
🔥 2024 was the hottest year on record.
Decision makers must prioritize #ClimateAction for both people and the planet. The window to secure a livable future is rapidly closing.

The International Court of Justice declared that states have legal duties—not just moral ones—to protect the climate. This landmark opinion, writes @panthealee.bsky.social, is part of a years-long campaign that began with university students.
Want mass heat pump adoption? Fix the running costs.
The electricity-to-gas price ratio is key. When policy makes electricity artificially expensive, the cleaner choice isn't the cheaper one. It's time to rebalance energy taxes, as this @thecccuk.bsky.social chart highlights.

Welsh climate impact story: my mum's local Co-op store in Cardiff has been unable to stock perishable food and dairy for over a week because its chill cabinets are powered by a gas generator. The gas tanks that power the generator are overheating thanks to a heatwave affecting the UK.

The takeaway here is that energy suppliers are gradually shifting to energy technology providers, and breaking down barriers to demand for that tech by shifting their product offering to 'energy as a service' models.

Remember the countless media articles about 'external' threats to our energy and digital infrastructures?
Instead of investing billions in the arms industry and R&D for military purposes, the state should be investing in climate resilience.

Solar hit 700GW in 2020—10x what was forecast in 2006.
Why? Feedback loops & non-linear change, not just tech swaps, drive clean energy.

NEW | Wind and solar generated more than a QUARTER of China's 🇨🇳 electricity for the first month on record ⚡
In April 2025, 26% of China's electricity generation was produced by wind and solar according to our latest @ember-energy.org data.
Wind: 13.6%
Solar 12.4%

Global average temperatures are spiking, rising faster than climate models seem able to explain, and in a sane world, every country would be united in a full-scale effort to figure this out & respond. Instead the US is dismantling its scientific infrastructure.

Despite billionairist media waging war on EVs, EV sales in UK soar to 32%.
Whilst old fossil fuel vehicles share falls precipitously to just 54%.
UK on track for majority EV sales in 2026! 👍
We are now a year ahead of EU average.🎂

"Refusal is active. Angry. It demands struggle. An attachment to the righteousness of fossil fuel lifestyles, and to all the hierarchies that depend upon fossil fuels, produces a desire to not just deny, but to refuse climate change, and a willingness to engage in authoritarianism to do so"

The power outage in Spain is a call for action to rethink our electricity grids and increase investments - a matter that experts point to for years now.
And as always it is not black or white. So read the extended Q&A of our expert Gustavo de Vivera.
