We know many fish and amphibians can regenerate the heart. How about reptiles? A landmark paper from @vickaryouslab.bsky.social to fill this gap. Glad to be a part of this study. @isrbio.bsky.social @evodevopanam.bsky.social @socdevbio.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Would you like to learn about ✨ #Nudibranch 🐌 🌊 regeneration✨ and the evolution of ✨ ✨ #musculoskeletal 🍖 development in avian models 🐣 ✨ ✨ ? Join us this next Monday 1pm ET for our first @evodevopanam.bsky.social #EvoDevoMondays! It’s open to all registrants 🩷. Link 🔗 👇

Big news from @evodevopanam.bsky.social 🤩
⭐️EvoDevo Mondays⭐️
This session will be chaired by the one and only Natalia Pabon Mora from the Universidad de Antioquía, Colombia. And as speakers, @luiza-o-saad.bsky.social and Joao Botelho (both originally from 🇧🇷)
Stay tuned for the link!

Preprint out!
Salamanders harbor a hypersensitive mTOR, thought to enable their remarkable limb regeneration. But do you need a special mTOR to regrow appendages?
In Polypterus, we find that a canonical mTOR pathway supports full appendage regeneration.

Polypterids (bichirs + ropefish) are the sister lineage of all other living ray-finned fishes. Restricted to Africa today, fragmentary fossils show they inhabited South America until at least the Paleocene. Now Late Cretaceous finds add Madagascar to the list: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Fantastic news for the US scientific community! Congrats Neil!
Previously we had shown that axolotl tail regeneration occurs in the absence of somitogenesis. In the updated manuscript we propose that vertebral segmentation during tail regeneration occurs through a process of buckling instability. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Science is a tough career. We are so over-trained in scepticism we end up constantly doubting ourselves. The worst part can be thinking you are alone in your self-doubt. By sharing our common experiences, we hope our new book helps those going through a career crisis:

Thank you
Thanks Laura ☺️
And it's out indeed! Huge congrats to @josanesousa.bsky.social, @gabrielalima19.bsky.social, @perezlouise.bsky.social & Hannah Schof! A true tour-de-force that highlights how emerging model systems can shed new light on long-standing macro-evolutionary questions. Go #axolotl, #polypterus #zebrafish!
