I’m getting better! Still amateur numbers of course, but just a few months ago my average power output was 90W. My VO2 max score finally improved today, also. I love busting my ass on da bike. Love da bike.
I keep thinking that focusing on exercise and health is burning all of my time, but that’s not true. Working in an office is burning all of my time.
In Missouri, it’s expected that you step out onto your porch when the tornado gets near. You’ll see all of your neighbors doing the same thing. All for the love of the game.*
not sure what the game is
Not a fan of this
“We need more software faster! We have to keep up with the OTHER garbage-producing corporation!”
No, you don’t. You’re not in a race to the top anymore. You’re wandering around in a landfill looking for gold.
Gonna put this out there for all the AI software developer folks: shipping more features faster doesn’t matter, and it never will. Taking the time to understand the user and shipping one rock-solid feature will always win against a deluge of random bullshit. Reject Temu-software mentality.
Do not throw away your youth as you age. Improve upon it.
Perhaps we are entering the world of Johnny Mnemonic.
I also dislike that Anthropic is keeping that tool limited and away from the public. Only a hand-full of corpos and gov agencies get it? Fuck off. Release it to the public and let the software world get destroyed. The sooner it happens the sooner we can be rebuild it.
The latest anthropic security whatever/thing is interesting. But we have always known that the OpenBSD folks were right.
Slack is a platform where millennials attempt to communicate exclusively with GIFs. Anything productive or work-related as a result of these communications is an unintended byproduct.
I need to work more high interval biking sessions into my week. So far I’ve been doing longer rides and it may be holding me back.
Leg day
Things are picking up this year. This is probably the most active I’ve been since 2019.
I went rucking today for the first time. I used a 45lb pack weight, and good lord…. It sounds easy, but it is NOT.
I purchased my niece a MacBook Air for her birthday, and it is pretty crazy how much power you get for the money today. $1,500 in 2011 would get you like 8 gigs of ram and some low voltage intel chip. Now it gets you 24 gigs of ram and a CPU you won’t have to think about until the machine dies.
This Garmin Neo bike is turning me into a new man
“Microsoft’s software being used in space” is a one-sentence horror.
Into year three of the MacBook Pro with M2 MAX chip. It still feels like a new machine and nothing seems to slow it down. The battery still lasts all day. I genuinely can’t remember the last time something like this has happened with a laptop. I don’t think it has ever happened.
Noticing that my jaw is slightly sore after doing a heavy workout. Interesting…
RE9 so far is very good. Though the segments with Grace are superior gameplay, imo, as it is actually a survival horror game while she is on screen. The segments with Leon feel like an entirely different game, but it’s also fun.
the word " yolo " .... i will never say such shit
I keep thinking about the 1990s Parliament Cigarette commercial from Japan. What was meant by this… what were they trying to convey
The setup is phat, and the new Studio XDR Display rocks.
Ever notice that the “AI is alive” guys never mourn or feel sorrow for it when they turn it off? Curious isn’t it? If they really believe it is alive, or no different from us, then why are they cool with killing something as soon as it is no longer of use to them? Much to think about.
RE: walkability in the Midwest
Here is what I mean, btw. That small pole is allegedly a bus stop by Kansas City outskirts standards. Good luck!
If you’re doing web development correctly, it can all be done in a text editor that supports opening a project folder. “JavaScript IDE” — no, you are very lost, and you are suffering.
I was listening to the ALT2k channel on SiriusXM today and the host said something similar to “just like updating your MySpace page or scrolling your Tumblr dash.” I have NEVER heard Tumblr mentioned in the wild like this. It felt like a strange had just jumped into my car and was about to kill me.
What seems evident.. is that if the Midwest (excluding Chicago) changed course right now, today, to correct city layouts and improve density, they would still be 30 years behind any east-coast city. At the current pace, it seems that midwestern cities are largely doomed.
