It’s 2026 and this still looks like the future.
Donald Trump is very unpopular and being seen as opposing Donald Trump in clear moral terms is an almost instant path to political and cultural relevance.

The Palantir manifesto has the heritage of the War on Terror written throughout it. Which makes an awful lot of sense considering who staked Palantir at the start.
That’s the big apple for ya

Saying "no man, you don't get to win this time" to evil people who have the power of the entire corrupt government behind them has to feel pretty fucking good

Letterboxd review by thankfulreact69: Rivers and Tides 2001 Watched Apr 10, 2026 I'd like to thank twitter legend Dennis B. Hooper for memeifying this excellent documentary for years, because it put the thing on my radar, while his consistent posting about it kept reminding me to actually get around to watching it. This is a stunning portrait of the artist Andy Goldsworthy, a man who creates works of art out of materials found in our natural world - rocks, sticks, clay, moss, leaves, ice, etc. It is beautiful, quiet, patient, even trancelike at times. His slow methodology, his philosophies about how the natural world speaks to him, time lapses showing the growth or decay of the work and the breathtaking reveals of his finished products, mixed with a droning, hypnotic score, all work in tandem to put one into a relaxed, meditative state, thus making it, at least for me, one of the more unique experiences watching a documentary. A special, fascinating piece. Can't recommend this one highly enough.

The task of de-Trumpification of science and public health will take a generation and a "Marshall Plan" to rebuild. Without a bold, expansive vision to guide us, there is no coming back. Small-bore, poll-tested versions of the future will not help us. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

Add "farmers in the American West whose farms are only viable because they are given incredibly scarce water resources for 5 cents on the dollar" to the car dealers and realtors — destructive, unproductive conservative groups that we need to reduce the influence of when we're back in power.
RIP. Had a long a varied journeyman acting career but will be remembered forever for some absolutely incredible work on STARSHIP TROOPERS, probably second only to Michael Ironside in incredible line-readings in a movie full of them.
