It takes time to build up trust between leaders. Like it or not, Starmer has done that already. We can’t join by just clicking our fingers, you have to see the whole thing through Europe’s eyes.

Malgré tout dans le passé, cependant, elle faisait certainement un bon travail, pourtant personne ne l’aimait.

Because McSweeney was doing his friend a favour was what I heard.

But wasn’t he quoting Robbins then?

I think he was quoting what Robbins had said tbf.

Vetting is a funny old business, isn’t it? Some party even appointed a self-confessed computer hacker to be its leader.🤔

But can you imagine the press with Miliband, and how much the word “chaos” would dominate every front page?😬 And what about Europe? We’d be taking a step back because any backbencher would be an unknown quantity to European leaders who seem to think well of Starmer.

Far right are winning because progressives are split. It’s always been thus. Corbyn was a thorn in every Lab government’s side, but historically the Tories knew how to hang onto power. Polanski won’t work with Labour but wants to sit down & talk to Putin - a prime example. Lib Dems in a do-dah.🤷‍♀️

Alex Andreou is good on this. Apart from the bad actors, people on here are looking for a “saviour”. I’d add that yesterday, ridiculously, Olly Robbins became the new Zack Polanski.

Very bad. Stupid as well.

He kept quiet even when there was an investigation. Apparently he knew better than either the Head of the Civil Service or the Cabinet Secretary.

But that pressure was coming from the éminence grise behind the PM’s office, ie McSweeney, was it not? We can’t rely on media reporting, we have to hear Starmer’s speech, the Foreign Office Select Committee’s session, and what Thornberry said afterwards.

Sounds like it was McSweeney’s idea. But *his* appointment was down to Starmer. Starmer has obviously delegated too much - understandable when there’s so much going on in the world. Usually the problem is one person *not* delegating anything, which in turn becomes dictatorship.

Regarding “Saint Saviours”, have you noticed how overnight Olly Robbins has become the new Zack Polanski? It’s quite embarrassing. It’s desperate. And it takes us all a step back from returning to the European fold.

I think they would say that when there was a later investigation into the whole matter, launched whilst he was in post, he failed to reveal what had happened.

Fanatical Brexiter and key Brexit negotiator, Lord David Frost, was, in 2024-5, a senior fellow of the Danube Institute which was funded by Orban and promoted his far-right ideology.

Not this government. Apart from the Mirror, they’re all gunning for the PM.

You didn’t understand it, be honest. It was an elegant quadrille and got us nowhere further forward.

That’s down to Blair, is it not?

“Live debate” between whom? Doesn’t sound like it was Starmer.
