Like a cozy horror movie? Something to give me spooks, but not surprises. It's not here to blow my mind, it's here to shout "DAMN THEM ALL--!" in a creepy voice.

What a good movie. Kind of my platonic ideal for a certain grade of horror movie.
Good question, but I come down on "No."
First, I think it would have been tasteless to kill Titano.
Second, a giant ape would have blunted the impact of Superman valuing the monster's life, and made the JG's actions less understandable. We just love apes too much.
we all know I have no life, so:
Do you think Min-Ji loosened that tie, or do you think she never bothered to do it up in the first place?
It's me.
I'm dad.
Smile 2.
What an absolutely killer premise for a sequel. Interesting, bombastic, high-stakes, sympathetic, original.
Then they completely botch it by deciding the demon can just do whatever it wants, and the last half of the movie was basically a dream. What a sloppy, pointless waste.
Eyyyy, Untraceable mentioned.
Bad movie, but they shot the serial killer's house in my family home. Best of all, they decided all our furniture and decorations were PERFECT for the murderer, so in the movie it's just... my parents' house, exactly like it is.
Field Comic Panel 1 A determined Field has slammed their hands on the desk and is determined to do the things that need to be done. Field: OKAY! I just have one small task to do. Panel 2 A stressed Field is staring blankly at a blank screen. Narration Box: -Stares at nothing for two hours instead-
One small task
Panel from the webcomic "Captain Tempest." Nighttime on the foredeck of the Theodora Star. A crowd of race attendees look on approvingly as Yi Minji, dressed in a jacket and undone bowtie, holds court. Pam and Captain Tempest are looking down at her from a balcony. PAM: Min-Ji seems to be the belle of the ball. TEMPEST: It was some astonishing flying, with or without the win. I don't think she'll have any trouble finding sponsors PAM: MacGoyer's been gone a while. TEMPEST: He's got a lot to do.
Two panels from the webcomic "Captain Tempest." Pam leans forward against the balcony railing while Tempest leans back against the railing, taking a sip of champagne from a flute as Pam glares at him. PAM: Maybe.
Panel from the webcomic "Captain Tempest." Pam angrily snatches the champagne flute away from Tempest's lips. PAM: Damn it, Prospero, we both know you're a human being under that mask. Who are you trying to fool? You'll be crushed if he leaves.
Panel from the webcomic "Captain Tempest." Tempest cringes slightly as he talks to Pam, who is off panel, as MacGoyer appears behind Tempest with a pleasant smile. TEMPEST: I don't see how that should make any-- MACGOYER: Evening, all.

Hugo Pratt’s CORTO MALTESE
Chris is top of the heap, as far as I'm concerned, and I've been looking forward to this project for ages. Don't miss it!
Rectangular comic panel showing an old timey urban street at night, lit by multiple lamps. A barricade has been erected across the middle of a street, and armed folks mill around. A teenager with a basket is calling out "Got more arrows!"

A photo of David Lynch in front of a burning house. The text over the burning house says " The World + My Economy My Future My Love Life My Sanity" And the text over Lynch says "Me making a stupid little comic maybe 5 people will read"
I like the touch that this is a panel from a story told by the narrator most likely to present Flash as an Earthling chauvinist.
Correct! It's shame we had to cut the Hawthorne flashbacks — they're real gnarly and Jenn does some great work here — but we were running out of pages and it felt like it was muddying the momentum heading into the climax. End of the day, while it's cool texture, we just had to bump it.
@danschkade.bsky.social Just finished reading the print edition of Lavender Jack, and I'm fascinated by the side-by-side view of the adaptation changes!
I'm curious what the thinking was in omitting the flashback to Fort Riss and the twist about Lord Hawthorne! Was that a matter of format?
I like it when people get along.
Panel from the webcomic "Captain Tempest." At sunset, a crowd of people have gathered at the Supermarine hangar on shore. John Locklead stands on the pontoon of the aircraft that won the race, holding court. ONLOOKER: Congratulations, Locklead. Smashing performance. LOCKLEAD: Oh, just a matter of letting Mitchell's old girl stretch her wings. Good engineering doesn't change.
Panel from the webcomic "Captain Tempest." MacGoyer walks up toward Locklead, looking bashful. Locklead smiles and waves to him, and we can now see that Locklead is wearing a somewhat goofy set of laurels on his head. MACGOYER: Hullo, John. LOCKLEAD: MacGoyer! Get a good view of our Schneider victory lap? MACGOYER: I wanted to apologize, John...
Panel from the webcomic "Captain Tempest." Locklead puts his arm companionably around MacGoyer's shoulders. MACGOYER: ...Letting you catch me like that -- reacting the way I have... LOCKLEAD: Forget it, Old man. All I want is for us to stop treating each other like strangers.
Pair of panels from the webcomic "Captain Tempest," in which Locklead gestures grandly toward the inside of the Supermarine hangar where a victory celebration is ongoing, followed by a reverse shot of MacGoyer beaming with a touch of melancholy. LOCKLEAD: I'm as much to blame for that as you -- but we only get so much time. Come on. Let me introduce you to the team properly. LOCKLEAD: IF you've come to a decision about the job?

Call for his impeachment. Say the words.
The vast majority of beats end up as one page. We release Captain Tempest pages weekly, so I try to give to each page its own conclusion: a cliffhanger, or a punchline. That's true for multi-page beats as much as single pages.
In prose I shoot from the hip and just write a story from beginning to end, but in comics I'm a lot more mindful of technical pacing.
I break a story down into beats, chunk those into acts, then divide the beats into pages. If it's not an action scene, no beat gets more than three pages.

The Monty Hall problem is actually incredibly easy. It doesn't matter what door you pick or if you switch because either way you're getting either a car or a goat, and that's good living no matter the result, fellas.
Flash Gordon and Jucika doing the Haus of Decline "I think we're gonna have to kill this guy" meme
I dunno man, sometimes they're just for me
There's something to be said for second place: it could be a whole lot worse!
Panel from the webcomic "Captain Tempest." The racing planes glide to a halt on the water alongside the cruise ship, and Min Ji is scrambling out of her cockpit to attack Tempest, who is collapsed on the wing of her plane. ANNOUNCER: And the judges are saying--yes, Britain wins, Independent Korea in second! MIN JI: By a nose! By a NOSE! I'll WRING YOUR NECK--! TEMPEST: Glad you're in one piece, miss Yi.
Panel from the webcomic "Captain Tempest." Back in the radio room, MacGoyer and Chaudhri help Pam to her feet as she clutches her stomach. MACGOYER: Lass! PAM: Just... Winded. Chaudhri... Why'd you...? CHAUDHRI: I... I was wrong. I'm not a killer. Not even second-hand.
Panel from the webcomic "Captain Tempest." Outside the radio room, glass is scattered on the deck where Caiman was punched through the window. A trail of blood leads away, and Caiman is nowhere to be seen. PAM (Off Panel): Glad to hear it. I think... we know ENOUGH killers.
Panel from the webcomic "Captain Tempest." Wide view of the cruise ship Theodora Star from the stands on the beach, with spectators cheering as more seaplanes continue to wheel around. MACGOYER (On the ship): Sigh. I cannae believe I missed the race.
