What’s concerning me is the amount of people in this country walking around and behaving like they have really good health insurance and healthcare.

Long COVID is Now the Number One Chronic Illness in Children Repeatedly mass infecting kids with COVID is not a public health strategy. It's a fast pass to declining population health

After abandoning every mitigation and infecting kids repeatedly, our media wants to know: why do so many children have Long COVID?

My latest looks at the newest research, the comforting lies that just won't die, and how we got here:

When you become chronically ill, your world shrinks.

You can’t do a lot of the things you used to. People disappear. It can be an isolating existence.

That said, you learn to slow down, simplify your life & reject rampant consumerism.

These skills will be invaluable when facing what’s to come

I don’t know who needs to hear this but if you’re letting your kid catch covid over & over, they can still get things like measles—even if they’re vaccinated. Why? Because vaccines aren’t as effective in immunocompromised people. And what does covid do really well? It makes people immunocompromised

Providers like them are rare gems in a broken system and society.

Just got an email this morning that I’m losing my neuro ophthalmologist. She’s leaving to pursue other things. 😭 I loved this doctor so much! She’s helped me in so many ways. I already lost my amazing primary care doctor last year (still haven’t replaced them), and now this.

COVID, flu, measles, and all airborne viruses can seriously harm anyone, not just people who are immunocompromised. EVERYONE has a medical reason to wear a mask at any time and in any place.

While also failing to realize that chronic illness and disability from ignoring the science will cause them inconvenience of all kinds too.

Ppl are so mad at RFK Jr. But let's stop pretending that ppl actually care about the science. Bc if they did, they would still be in masks right now & demanding/pushing for clean air in our schools, healthcare, etc. Ppl only care about the science that doesn't cause them inconvenience of any kind.

It is understandable that you
feel unwell,
for you live in sickening times:
the state of the world
will nauseate you,
the fear for the future
will exhaust you,
the spreading viruses
will infect you,
in these sickening times
what would be worrisome
is if you felt fine.

Fascists want us divided, uninformed and sick. A sick, apathetic population won’t put up much of a fight.

Protect your health. Read local independent journalists. Support libraries, community fridges & food banks. Give to mutual aid. Wear a mask.

Strong inclusive communities will save lives

In terms of the pandemic, this problem is worldwide with governments and societies. It isn’t isolated to just the U.S.

Today marks the five year anniversary of Covid being declared a pandemic. Some things I want people to remember:

The threat is not gone. People are still dying and becoming disabled every single day

COVID is airborne. It’s always been airborne.

When someone becomes disabled or chronically ill, people will twist themselves into knots finding a way to blame them. They need to find fault so they don’t have to face the randomness of life.

The truth is, anyone can become disabled at any time.

Good health is not a guarantee.

Meanwhile we have schools like my children’s that have the nerve to spotlight their 20+ absences during an IEP meeting & ask if there’s anything they could do to help. Yeah, advocate for masks and clean air in your school. But all we get are response’s like, ā€œyeah, viruses can be tricky. I’m sorryā€

Vaccines work best when we reduce transmission. Letting c19 rip fuels chronic illness, disability, weakens immune responses, and makes even the best vaccines less effective. If you care about public health, you should care about masking too.

It’s 2025 and people are still mad at anti vaxxers while refusing to mask—actively creating more immunocompromised people and making vaccines less effective. You can’t be pro science while ignoring how repeated infections fuel long term vulnerability.

Yesterday morning on my way to drop my kids off at school, I see a train on the train tracks up ahead. As I’m getting ready to pass under the bridge, I see an oil tanker pass by w/ spray paint on it that read ā€˜Are you paying attention yet??’ It definitely got my heart palpitations going & triggered.

It’s hard to explain the hope I had at the beginning of the pandemic. I was scared, but I also thought we were going to become a more inclusive society. We would care more about chronic illness.

Having that hope ripped away and replaced with eugenics & fascism has been incredibly painful.

I am 38. Covid aged me by 30 years. No, that’s not an exaggeration. And yes it took 4 infections in 5 years to reach this point. My partner jokingly makes fun of me and my old lady ways šŸ’€

Long covid is making adjustments you never wanted to make—like cutting your hair because you can’t take care of it anymore.

Yep, happened here in Illinois too with one of the health systems. I don’t think it was a big one, but still. šŸ˜ž
