But for folks not first & foremost making commercial goods but opting to make merch to supplement income (YouTubers, music creators, etc) — I’m totally fine with just giving them money for the work they’ve already done 🤣

I’m actually not opposed to artists/creators making merch adjacent to their work.

I guess with my background in making products for sale in my own work and getting older, I’m just becoming more selective with items I buy. I don’t need/want another trinket unless it’s unique/highly appealing to me

You would be surprised how many music artists don’t have this or an equivalent.

The alternative I see to sub platforms is really half assed or well meaning but poorly executed merch.

And even if you provide solid stuff, I don’t need another black tshirt.

Just let me pay you directly to thank you for the cool stuff you’ve shared with us.

I have a budget of how much I spend on creators via subscription platforms— I also support folks/projects outside of that depending on extra funds
