With the warm weather, my windows are open, and I can hear a young man learning the violin across the alley every day. He's been progressing at an incredible rate! I've always loved hearing my neighbours practice. It makes the neighbourhood feel alive.

I made the culinary equivalent of vibe coded pancakes this morning. No measuring just eye balling and intuition. The results were….not pretty.
Some joy and happiness for your timeline this Valentines and Family Day weekend!
Japan's "Mundane Halloween" costume contest is back!
Each year website DailyPortalZ holds a contest where people dress up as something super duper ordinary.
Here's a thread of some of my favorites from the 2025 contest!

We have only had one come to our door so for this evening. 😥
Photo of full sized chocolate bars in a glass bowl - waiting to be given out to trick or treaters.
Full sized bars all set to go.
We only got a handful of kids last year. It‘s sad actually not to have kids trick or treating in this neighborhood anymore, but there aren’t many young families here, I guess. Plus it’s hilly.
🤞🏽 for more visitors this year since it’s a Friday. I’m ready!
Last night way home from seeing the magnificent Arooj Aftab in concert, along 12th, some dude in all black ran into the intersection while I was driving through on a full green. If I had been speeding or distracted or inexperienced I would have hit him and both our lives would have been ruined.
I’m officially entering my listening-to -my-teen-and-his-friends-play-90s-grunge-hits-in-the-basement phase of life. It’s a very strange Deja vu feeling, but I’m here for it.
I use a random word every day, and got it in one today. My husband told me to buy a lottery ticket. I then proceeded to launch into an explanation of the hot hand fallacy. And yes, if you’re wondering- I’m a ton of fun at parties! 😂😬
Displaying a graphic of how it's not just people with permanent needs that can benefit from inclusive design, there are also temporary and situational needs. For example, someone who's deaf, vs has an ear infection, vs in a loud bar The full list, with little characters representing each is: Touch: one arm, arm injury, new parent holding a baby See: Blind, Cataract, distracted driver Hear: Deaf, ear infection, bartender Speak: non-verbal, laryngitis, heavy accent (a picture of a Viking)

Now that is an even more interesting and curiosity provoking tidbit than the zed zee conversation! Do you have a specific objection to the term? To the concept, perhaps?
Oh man. I feel this. I'm firmly in the zed camp. That said, I'm curious - about how you personally pronounce GenZ. Do you say gen "zee" or gen "zed"?
Just clicked on an interesting looking podcast. There was no transcript. 😖
Just PSA for folks who make podcasts. Chances of me listening to your podcast <5% even if I'm interested in the material. Chances of me reading through a transcript of your podcast if I'm interested in the material >90%.
I used to love this song. Now everytime I hear it, I'll be hearing this. 😖

Retirees with a LIF that received double-digit investment returns in 2024 have a RARE opportunity to unlock a large chunk of their LIF accounts. ⬇️
Connect the dots
That’s wild!
I wonder what you would discover if you did some Gestalt dream work on that dream!
Love a nice peaty scotch! Cheers, and Merry Christmas!
Here’s a little piece I wrote on financial fawning. If you don’t know what it is, read below to find out:

Not the only one!
I occasionally get inquiries from folks who want to see me about someone else's behaviour.
❌ My spouse (or child or sibling) has a problem and needs your help (subtext - fix them).
✅ I need help setting boundaries, effective self-advocacy, and better communication skills around these behaviours.

Artist makes website that lets you take selfies through NYC's network of traffic cameras. NYC Department of Transportation sends cease and desist. Artist nails cease and desist to a very very very long pole & holds it up to one of the cameras to take a photo of it

#IFS level 2 this weekend all weekend. Today's topic is shame in relationships.
From this morning's lecture:
What was done to us, we do ourselves. What we do to ourselves, we do to others.
It's👏about👏time👏
And honestly - with all of the discourse around fees - advisors have had ten to fifteen (or more) years to figure it out, pivot and be transparent. This isn't some big shocking thing coming out of no where.
Oof! This is painful!
