pleased enough to have finally (finally) installed a working amplifier / receiver. and, also finally, i went and dug out all of my humidifying machines from their hiding place. an acceptable afternoon watching the humidity climb ever so slowly while listening to phonograph albums. lutes.

it has been doing its job for several days as a machine now, so i would say i unborked my eeepc. stuck on reinstall.
when the machine would not recognize the cdrom drive, i went into shell, i renamed the live stick stb1 as cdrom and bob's your uncle, as it were.

heh. actual journal entry, may 2015

so i have a list of words paired with their frequency, and a list of variations in spelling of a portion of those words . . .
the list of words with variant spellings is long. but not as long as the total list. the total word list is a long, long list.

watched this one today. too bad about the outboard i thought. better stewardship takes longer, but if the water is what is supposed to be protected would it not be more strategic to stop putting gasoline in it now rather than later www.onf.ca/serie/lake-w...

they put it next to a big heading that says 'keeping people moving' yah. do people really want to move every 12 months? that's the opposite of productivity and stability. even the suggestion will make the avaricious salivate.

'Do you realise how rare that is? Every other little country I have known has a king or a chief running it. He gives land to his friends and takes money from those who fall out with him. It is like having a child loose with a sword.'

'Do you understand the word “Republic”?

‘In Rome, we have the rule of law. It is not yet perfect or even as fair as I would like, but it tries to be and that is what I devote my life to. It is worth my life – and yours too when the time comes.’

we sailed in there before what they call the 'silver islet race' and got coffees. part of the mythology of the race is that it actually does start with a shotgun blast i think. weird violent history around this place. lots of greed and death underneath the conservation area stuff.
