Have reposted; now replying!
It does sound intriguing... I tend to get through a lot of books but mainly paperbacks as they're pocket sized and I have a bus commute to fill!

Quite an admirable haul!
Just talking about Iain M Banks with a young colleague at work today; I've kept a few unread so far but also tempted to return to Consider Phlebas...
Enjoy!
Mervyn Peake’s illustration of tower in front of castle, landscape.
‘This tower, patched unevenly with black ivy, arose like a mutilated finger from among the fists of knuckled masonry and pointed blasphemously at heaven. At night the owls made of it an echoing throat; by day it stood voiceless and cast its long shadow.’ ~

That cross had a caster on the base to make it move easier. Something's a spare wheel there.

Walked by this beauty last night - pretty awesome to see these messages out in the world.
Happy birthday! What a great plan...
Food looks lovely but we need a photo of the books!
RIP Andy Kershaw, broadcaster. Never boring on BBCs Radio 1, Radio 3, Radio 4, the World Service or on his own podcast. Curious and enthusiastic (but yes, also flawed), my record collection wouldn't be the same without him, nor my knowledge of North Korea.
Here are my top 10 dog and news reporter interactions!
Passed that myself today. Still love the framing of it as you approach from the south.
@trangpang.bsky.social Happy birthday!
Hope you have a cracking day today!
Goodnight, Hookland.

Earth grows closer — then: fire.
At ~28,000 km/h, the atmosphere hits, plasma dancing past the glass.
~2,700°C — a storm of flame.
Artemis II is coming home...
I would hope you can purchase your own Smock of Folly from the shop, and if not, why not?

There's a reason those signs are made of iron.
Seconded; astonishingly creative period for the band with sustained quality and variety.
The edge of the pavement and a road; straddling the kerbstones is a triangular yellow metal plate used to immobilise car wheels; a metal chain is looped through it with a lock. In the road, a small yellow loop of metal and a flake of yellow paint lead away.
I have reason to believe Houdini has reincarnated as a car.
Goodnight, Hookland.
Good luck Adam, good luck...
The Damned, Manchester, January 2026. Dave Vanian picked out in a white spotlight at a lectern with Captain and Rat red light yo one side.
The Damned live at the Albert Hall, Manchester. Dave Vanian, arms stretched wide stands on stage while one of the buildings strained glass windows is in the background.
Have a great time!
I'd like to go but... life, logistics and the like. And I got to the Manchester gig in January and that was treat enough!
If you see this, I implore you to post a picture from whatever device you're using with no explanation.

Substack is evil. I can't emphasise this enough. Their line that anyone can leave easily & take their subscriber list with them is bullshit. I left & it cost me a large sum of money. It forced me briefly back onto Substack to try to clear up the mess... tomcox.substack.com/p/an-explana...
Ta!
The sun shines low through bare branched trees in a blue sky. The sunlight lies along a path in a park with grass either side, touched golden by the sun.
Morning.
Back to the commute, but a not unpleasant start...
As soon as this first, stunning crescent Earth photo landed from Artemis II yesterday, it reminded me of one of the finest Earth shots from project Apollo - taken during the uncrewed Apollo 4
The composition - two eras uniting, making one Earth sprang to mind - but can Artemis help unite the world?

Sounds like a dodgy, adult Dr Who enemy...
Fancy indeed!
Used to work for a corporate events company and we went to a fair few such places. Lucknam Park down that way springs to mind.
....and whose amateur journalism is probably paid to their company rather than themselves.
