Is this what people with power and money think?

Groundbreaking.

I study racism for a living and can still manage to be shocked by how institutionalized it is. What do you mean they were giving tax-breaks to white supremacists celebrating treason?

Just spent part of the morning listening to Professor Paris talk about her book. This is a really important contribution to critical Internet studies, especially for folks interested in infrastructure, materiality, and other networks. The case studies are unique, and the storytelling is wonderful.

I am convinced that the extreme polarization we’re dealing with in the U.S. has led to a level of cognitive offloading that suggests there are two choices with respect to genAI: personalized agents from birth or living off the grid. Can we at least not make genAI a default condition of *childhood.*

Dax returns the hug and says "I'm Jadzia now."

Star Trek figured this out thirty years ago. It's not hard. Even an old, drunk Klingon got it.

I don't think people fully appreciate how apocalyptic things are for US science. I haven't had any new funding since 2024, but I'm still ok since typical grants are for three years. This means next year I will be completely out of funding and will have to fire everyone in the lab. It's not great.
