A 6-year-old at Sandy Hook in 2012 could be a sophomore at Brown in 2025, and it’s horrific that Congress has done nothing in the 13 years of that kid’s life.

Did Bernie say that or the pope?
Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”
We should recruit former sprinters and wide receivers to throw more subs at Trump’s paramilitary troops in cities.
My very milk drunk 5 day old son
I broke down on Friday at 2am when my newborn was 2 days old & was screaming at my boob, refusing to eat. After feeding him formula at 5am, I calmed down. Every mom deserves this calm. Israel’s formula blockade is criminal. Tell Marco Rubio to stop the blockade act.ayannapressley.com/sign/pt-gaza...
Julian Bloesch-Huang entered the world on Wednesday. He looks pretty concerned about the spread of authoritarianism but otherwise is sleepy, squishy, and healthy.
Headline from nyt of Cuomo resigning from office.
This day in history, an abuser resigned in disgrace. He will never hold such power again. We won’t let him.
Your Prime Day reminder that half of Amazon warehouse workers struggle with food & housing costs.
A third have had to rely on government assistance like SNAP — which is about to get cut.
If Bezos can spend $50M on a wedding, Amazon can afford to treat its workers with dignity.
BS: How was that? How long were you in jail? MM: One night. They let you make one phone call, and I called the Ugandan Ambassador in Washington, DC, talked to him, and he said, “What are you doing interfering in the affairs of a foreign country?” I said, “What? We just got our independence! This is the same struggle. Have you forgotten?” Anyway, he got me out. Two or three weeks later, I was in my room. There was a knock at the door. Two gentlemen in trench coats and hats said, “FBI.” I thought, “Wow, just like on television.” They sat down. They were there to find out why I had gone – because this turned out to be big – it is after Montgomery that King organized his march on Selma. They wanted to know who had influenced me. After one hour of probing, the guy said, “Do you like Marx?” I said, “I haven’t met him.” Guy said, “No, no, he’s dead.” “Wow, what happened?” “No, no, he died long ago.” I thought the guy Marx had just died. So then, “Why are you asking me if he died long ago?” “No, he wrote a lot. He wrote that poor people should not be poor.” I said, “Sounds amazing.” I’m giving you a sense of how naïve I was. After they left, I went to the library to look for Marx. So that was my introduction to Karl Marx.
rare W for COINTELPRO from a legendary conversation between Bhakti Shringarpure and Mahmood Mamdani (h/t Silke-Marie Weineck)
This photo says: I’ve been visited by the devil, and I said yes.
MVP partners just helped put NY State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani on track to win New York City’s mayoral primary — offering a blueprint for winning elections and rejuvenating the Democratic Party. Read the full story: movement.vote/blog/2025-06...
Shout out to
@lindseyboylan.bsky.social who put it all on the line four and a half years ago and then was hitting the pavement hard since Cuomo got in the race and through today. A portrait in bravery.
People immediately pivoting to slot Lander into a progressive primary challenge are missing the implicit deal in the cross-endorsement: he's going to be deputy mayor, essentially COO of New York City. He's going to use his experience with the inner workings of government to help Mamdani deliver.
There are a lot of Dems—electeds and staffers—out there who want to win elections, a lot who want to stand up to Trump more aggressively than the national party leadership, and a lot who want to run progressive issue-based campaigns.
All three (overlapping!) groups got a powerful boost last night.
Zohran’s victory is an earthquake. The left everywhere must dedicate itself to an insurgency against Dem incumbents. The Dem establishment has lost credibility w/ its base in the face of fascist threat. The base is looking leftward for new leadership. We are the opposition party.
He was smiling with that eye dimple all the time! Having fun! Telling the story of working class NYC!
Zohran ran the most joyful, authentic campaign.
And it’s sadly ironic that the only people who can viably run as independents are the most establishment sycophantic Democrats.
Let's go @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social! Six months ago, I couldn't have imagined that Zohran would be in striking distance of winning the NYC primary by running the most joyful, big-hearted campaign.

Five things to remember about war:
What happened to congressional approval of going to war?
Because what Rosa Parks was doing—and what Brad Lander was doing—was refusing to accede to unjust state action. That's not a stunt, that's exercising your moral rights as a human being.
I want to say a little more about this. If we call what Lander did a "stunt," it seems to me that we have to call what Rosa Parks did a stunt too, and that seems to me to be patently ridiculous.
And honestly, the fact that so many high-ranking elected Dems don't know that there's a difference between a "stunt" and throwing your body on the gears with the cameras rolling—and that the latter is what our moment calls for—is a big part of the problem in the party right now.
I don't think it's useful to call a politician putting himself in the path of getting arrested by Trump's ICE agents a "stunt."
Putting your body on the line isn't simply a stunt. Confronting the agents of the state in order to protect an undocumented New Yorker isn't simply a stunt.
A Trump supporter attempted to murder two Democrats and their families to tip the Minnesota state legislature—and it’s somehow not an enormous scandal for Trump.
The both-sidesing of fascist violence is a massive failure of both parties, and the national political media.

One might have thought that last November, when Missourians voted to enshrine “reproductive freedom" in the state constitution, that would have been the end of the conversation.
Alas, the Missouri Supreme Court doesn’t seem to be inclined to listen. This week, the court halted abortions.
incredibly, wildly funny the new Pope has a VAN record (that has since been removed)
