Incredible opinion. It holds that the common ICE tactic of jumping out of an unidentified rental vehicle and seizing suspected noncitizens while masked violates the Fourth Amendment because the *manner* of the seizure is incompatible with a free society governed by the rule of law.

I really do not understand why Canadians complain about "high" tax rates. 1) they're really not, 2) people must not understand how *marginal* rates work, and 3) medical care! Roads. Energy infrastructure. Really decent services. Do you KNOW what that costs "privately"? Clearly not.

but, hey, let's not bust the narrative that the USA's taxation rate is so much lower than ours--

...(it is not, usually just a couple percent difference, but ours comes with medical, so, is it really "more"?)

A couple of the most vocal yo yos I know on that fringe live most of their time in Latin American countries because of how tyrannical they think the Canadian government is. 🫠 These people have more than a few screws loose.

Important reforms to protect victims of abusive relationships - largely women and children. The current system does not do enough.

FYI Canada - the small quota of EVs are not what you should be concerned about. 😞🫣

Ian Austin, an Army veteran, was arrested for protesting ICE in Minneapolis. But he’s continued protesting. Senior reporter @julialurie.bsky.social spoke to him.

“When they say, ‘Why would you be out here?’ How the fuck could I not be out here?” he says. “My nation is under attack."

Woe unto the UK - Brexit and breaking with EU standards, including vehicle safety and emissions standards, lost you more than you know. 😞

ICE's atrocities have even cracked the professional veneer on LinkedIn.

Unfortunately, some of those responses are "we need more precise language than 'immigrant' to distinguish refugees and entrepreneurs."

No. We don't. We are all in the same boat. Anything they can do to them, they can do to us.

Heat pumps are not sexy technology, but they're well-established, inexpensive, widely available and incredibly efficient. Hydrogen is a pipe dream and a persistent green-washing effort - always the technological silver-bullet carrot dangling decades out, hiding the truth that it does not pencil. ✏️

you know this guy is a FOR REAL photographer because he's telling the story of his brutal, unconditional arrest by federal goons and can't help but slip in a gear review

We already know that these idiots don't understand sci fi and aren't capable of engaging with any part of the genre except the aesthetics, but I feel like I should point out that Picard literally says "You poor fools; your own creation destroyed you!" about an AI weapons system in this episode.

This is stunning. Listen to this in Philadelphia.

Thousands singing “Hey-Oh, we won’t be silent while our friends are gunned down.”

Really listen to it.

This war and extra-judicial kidnapping is patently illegal and unconstitutional. Political leaders on both sides must condemn it. It’s not about whether Maduro is a tyrant but whether the US is still governed by laws and the Constitution. As if this morning, we are clearly not.

It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad.

The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.

Caine, in what happened when the military invaded Maduro’s compound: “On arrival into the target area, the helicopters came under fire, and they replied to that fire with overwhelming force in self-defense.”

We’re going to be reading that sentence for years.

At least some of the US media is covering this like it is lunacy.

The Wildest Things Trump Said About the Venezuela Attack Trump’s comments on the Venezuela attack were staggeringly dumb and brazen. In a Fox interview and speech today, he said the U.S. is taking over the nation’s oil, coined ‘Donroe Document,’ and said, “Nobody can stop us.” Here are his wildest remarks.

100% - the algorithm isn't "fixing" anything and it's not sorry. It's re-running to our words in a different order because someone asked it to. 😓

Venezuela - The Lesson for Canada Make no mistake, the attack on Venezuela by the Trump regime is not about removing a rogue leader; it is a deliberate attack on international law.

Canada needs to take see the invasion of Venezuela for what it is - a deliberate attack on the international rules based order. We have a bandit nation on our border and we need to be ready for whatever comes next.

And even longer ago, once upon a time, Simón Bolívar's independence bids from colonial Spain in the 1800's were inspired by US independence, and the first attempt by Miranda in Venezuela itself was directly aided by then-post-Revolutionary War volunteers. It's a longer history than this!

US is at war "with"?? How about "the US administration is waging war *on* Venezuela." Bit more accurate. Liberal news has been neutered, you have to go abroad for any semblance of credible coverage.

Food becoming more calorific but less nutritious due to rising carbon dioxide Researchers noticed ‘dramatic’ changes in nutrients in crops, including drop in zinc and rise in lead

From today's #DailyNewsDigest📰: "The results, she said, were a shock: although crop yields increase, they become less nutrient-dense. While zinc levels in particular drop, lead levels increase."
