I'm still glad I took another crack at the processing. I posted the better one.

Thanks. I reprocessed it later, and it came out much better.

It's 20 or 30 million light years away, so someone will have to volunteer to go find out.

Yeah, I'll be the first to admit that Hubble did it better.

Fortunately, I decided to take another crack at NGC 2683. I'm really glad I did because it came out much better this time. #astronomy #astrophotography

A not too wildly successful image of the galaxy NGC 2683 in the constellation Lynx. It's sometimes called the UFO galaxy. It's really too small for my equipment, especially my north-facing equipment upstairs. #astronomy #astrophotography

This is the other thing I was working on last night. The Galaxy M101 in Ursa Major. But there was a lot of cloud action in the early part of the night, and I ended up with less than five hours of it. At least they were hours in a very dark sky. #astronomy #astrophotography

You read a lot online about how this is brightening as the month goes on, but what they forget to tell you is that it's also dipping below the horizon during any reasonable nighttime hours, when you might... you know... see it. At least from here.

Comet C/2025 R3 Pan-STARRS. Not the best picture of a comet, but this was tricky. It's very close to the horizon where the sun is rising in the morning. By the time it comes up it's really a little too light for photography. That's likely why I didn't capture much tail. #Astronomy #Astrophotography

The phrase "quarter moon" doesn't mean that the moon is one quarter illuminated. It means it's one quarter of the way through its cycle.
