@dannybrown.me You, Mark, and Claire sure sparked some great conversations this week with the most recent episode of In and Around Podcasting.

I've spent about $65,000 to get a bag of GOLD nuggets
...from attending conferences over the years!
Was it worth it?
Check it out, my article is in @podnews.net!!!

You are so fast.
I like the idea. Of course, I’d really like the comments to be in-app like what Fountain does with Nostr. But maybe in the future?

I don’t post a lot here, so if you want more podcasting and podcast editor connections, check out this starter pack.

"Pivoting to video on Spotify comes with some trade-offs that may not be worth it for certain audio creators."
On Spotify, especially, where the original audio is replaced by the video audio, which can be dramatically different. Excellent piece on @podnews.net.

Looking forward to season 2!
Mark and @stevestewartme.bsky.social are great and I can’t way to see what they do.

Thanks for doing this. Powerful story.

Releasing kids to ministry work can be tough. Though I don't ave any first-hand experience (yet), I think this is a helpful perspective.

If you have “podcast” in your bio, I want to find you so we can be internet friends
Thanks for doing this (and including me). Helped me find a bunch of podcasters I didn’t know were on BlueSky.
What did you get?
We’ve all seen them - the random question followed by obviously fake engagement and a request to connect. Followed, of course, by a sales pitch in your messages.
Don’t fall for it.
And… please, if it’s you doing this, rethink your strategy. It didn’t age well.
It seems like it’s probably about 50/50. Maybe slightly worse, but I’m sure I get far fewer requests than you do.
Just started using @openvibe.bsky.social and it’s awesome. So happy to have a defaulted following feed across platforms and not needing to multi-post

If you can control the environmental sound, the blanket fort can keep your voice from bouncing around the room like a racquet ball. It’s worked for radio reporters for years and it just might work for you.
If you’re not worried about how things look, consider the blanket fort. It won’t fix environmental sounds like a jackhammer on the street corner or forgetting to turn off the loud air conditioning in a hotel room.
But…
Acoustic treatment is often more important than choosing the “right” mic as a #podcaster, but it can be expensive. The good news is that it doesn’t HAVE TO be expensive.
Have you heard one of these podcaster fairy tales?
1. Fix it in post
2. Guests have great mics
3. You don’t need a sound check
Or…
Guests will grow your audience.
Publishing on Tuesday to grow.
Just hire an iTunes podcast promoter.
The truth… it’s hard. Focus on the fundamentals.
One thing about having very few connections - it’s much easier to keep up with everyone.
I know this first-hand. Believe me.
Focus on getting the content right and serving your audience before you obsess over things like publishing days.
I see this all the time - podcasters focusing on the slight edge and forgetting about the fundamentals.
Here’s the hard truth - publishing Tuesday (or any other day) instead of the weekend won’t help grow your audience if the content isn’t great or you are inconsistent with publishing.
