"The potential is there" is something fans could say about any announcement trailer (or even launch, in this case.)
But when has TPCi ever lived up to the potential even level-headed fans dare to dream up? You can battle with more Pokémon in Stadium 2 on N64 than you can in Champions, at present.
The frankly mystifying launch of Pokémon Champions is compelling me to be on this stupid website. I could write a novel.
Is the future of competitive play piecemealing Pokémon *AND* items we've had since 2005? Will features *advertised in trailers* (Tera vs. Mega) not come 'til 2027? WHO KNOWS?
Anyway, Pokémon Champions has *retroactive [BAD] censorship in it*, and I find that so pathetic it's extremely funny.
Some traded Pokémon can't have their nicknames changed after a certain point, sooooo WHAT ARE PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO DO? I giggle all night, lads.
Both of these nicknames were accepted in Shining Pearl & Scarlet. It didn't take long to figure out what was wrong with "Janus." But Kiffle is a weird one, I thought. KUFFLE is an offensive word on Urban Dictionary, and maybe Kiffle is too close?? Did their censorship measures use AI or something???

Pokémon Champions didn't let my Alakazam in the game because it WAS nicknamed "Janus", and that has "anus" in it. My Meowscarada nicknamed "Kiffle" after what we call our cat had to be changed to "Percy."

Pokémon Champions could‘ve been a “modern Pokémon Stadium” with robust single player options to onboard newcomers & keep people like me entertained without being Always Online.
Instead, it’s got starter bundles, micro transactions, & a yearly subscription. I knew not to get my hopes up, but SHEESH.
I genuinely have no idea. @coldandabsurd.bsky.social bought them for me while I was getting ready. 🤣

I'm happy to report that trading between two Nintendo Switch systems is easy as pie/works as intended.
Why yes, I am going for as complete a Pokédex as I possibly can. surprising no one.
I missed out on Shiny Mew and Shiny Deoxys in GO. And since the Scopely buyout, I don't play anymore. So, this imaginary future would be my first and only time to be able to grab one.

Why bother releasing Pokémon Stadium 1&2 on NSO if you can't connect to the Game Boy games? Is it worth it to play XD or Colosseum when huge parts of those games are taking your GBA teams through Mt. Battle and the like?
They COULD have made them connect, but chose not to.
For years, I've had (unrealistic) hopes of them announcing standalone Generation III Pokémon games that connect forwards *and backwards* to Pokémon HOME.
After today's presentation, my dreams of taking my 2005-era Pokémon...back to 2005 are officially dead. No Earth Ribbon on my old friends, haha.
Yet. Wave/Wind is coming in 2027, so expect that announcement *next* Pokémon Day.
Yup. But, maybe things didn't get announced because it's not as cut and dry as a single splash-screen can manage, haha.
I forgot just how many Johto Pokémon were in Emerald. It would take *a lot* of playthroughs, but it could be done.
Jirachi and Celebi would be inaccessible without the Bonus Discs, but. Hmm. I feel like they'd've told us if the Event Tickets were in the game. I'd love to be wrong!
Even if they were to release Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald in the future (presumably in the same standalone way), you'd still need to connect to the GameCube games to get everything.
Generation III is the one Pokédex I've never completed, 'cuz doing so legitimately costs a cool $2000, no hyperbole.
RE: FireRed/LeafGreen on Switch:
- With HOME being Transfer Only and no connectivity to NSO games, it is genuinely impossible to complete the National Pokédex in this version of the game.
- You need full Hoenn access, plus Pokémon from Colosseum and XD in order to get all 386 Generation III 'mons.
I'm Online™ for Pokémon Day. Though I'll probably spend most of it playing LeafGreen.
I'm disappointed its connectivity with HOME is Transfer Only (and it doesn't appear the NSO GCN games will work with it either), but that's what I expected.
I just hope Champions has offline Stadium Cups. April!

It’s abundantly clear to me that Sakurai has at least a working knowledge and at best adoration for EVERY property he works with, Smash or otherwise. He’s one of the best to ever do it & isn’t some choosy brat who hates things.

From 1998 to 2018, the animal friends & Shimomura characters were tiny cameos and references AT BEST. Everyone’s been playable in Star Allies, Gooey was in Fighters 2, Adeleine & everyone reappeared in Super Kirby Clash too.

I’ve taken a photo of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask on Nintendo 64 being played via the Analogue 3D. The Happy Mask salesman has his arms outstretched towards Young Link, newly transformed back into a Hylian, and says, “Believe in your strengths…Believe…”
Maybe 2026 is the year I finally beat Majora’s Mask on N64.
I have a shelf of every Kirby game through the 3DS era [where everything is digital and I can play on original hardware THAT way]. My "white whale" is a Super Famicom copy of Kirby Super Star Stacker that goes for......a lot. and I may eventually spend a lot on it.
But my hard limit is $1000 lmaooo
KDL3 is not my favorite Kirby ever, despite having animal friends. But I own a Super Famicom copy because I will always do a "full Kirby series replay" when a new Main Game is announced, and I love doin' it on original hardware.
Would never drop $1,000 on the US version though, haha.
