It’s fun to joke about, but the courtship that crosses vast ocean basins to bring two turtles together after decades of solitude is one of the most profound love stories in the world.

The U.S. Justice Department terminated an agreement to remedy the ongoing sanitation crisis in Lowndes County, AL. Now residents of the county are at risk of criminal penalties or even property loss for sanitation conditions they can not afford to fix themselves.
In 2006, the U.S. government expanded the definition of terrorism to include acts against animal enterprises. Animal rights activists are among the most targeted group by the FBI. This is bigger than Tesla, and there is a lot more at stake for those involved in direct actions.
“National security” is such a strange term used to justify just about anything. It implies there is insecurity due to a perceived threat.
What is the threat..? Whose security is at stake? How will exploiting the ocean protect them? And from what?

Antarctic krill fishing starves blue whales while drowning humpbacks. It burns four times the biomass it extracts in fossil fuel.
You might think of krill oil supplements, but the primary demand for this fishery is fish and shrimp farms.

USDA Wildlife Services' annual report just dropped.
In 2024, the federal government killed 1.9 million wild animals at the behest of agribusiness, billing the public over $100 million.
YES. I call them wildlife CAFOs. I even think there are a lot of hunters who are against them too.
If you want to boycott industries associated with the Trump administration, stop buying tuna.
The tuna industry is the central lobby behind the decision to sell Pacific Islands Heritage National Monument for commercial fishing.
Tuna should have the same reputation as Tesla.
Carl Sagan when asked, "Are you a Socialist?"
This is a great book if you want to feel retroactive rage at English colonists, fur traders, market hunters, mountain men, feather-hat milliners, bison killers, wolf poisoners, trigger-happy naturalists, passenger-pigeon shooters, and American history generally. I’m pretty pissed at the Clovis too.
80% of US bees have not died.
Colony losses in commercial bee farming, typically ~50%, are ~80% this year.
2024 saw record high colony & farm counts, up 160% since 2007.
You should be more concerned about long-term collapse of native pollinators, *driven in part* by farming non-native honeybees.
The Center joined more than 30 conservation organizations to call on UNESCO and the International Union for Conservation of Nature to take urgent action against the Saguaro LNG project proposed in Puerto Libertad, Sonora.

This is harming dolphins, whales, and it threatens the Gulf of California. In case that sparks anyone’s interest.

I’m an environmentalist no matter who is in office.
I realize there is more silence from the media and from many environmentalists when a “progressive” politician is in office, but we are in an ecological crisis + climate crisis, and these polluting industries keep expanding.
The Canadian company TC Energy is responsible for building this pipeline that will expand the reach of gas from Texas in the U.S.
It is alarming how these industries tend to be connected across countries.
Canada, U.S., Mexico. All intertwined.
due to the effects they cause on air quality.
The Puerta al Sureste gas pipeline located on the coast of Veracruz, in the Gulf of Mexico is an underwater pipeline that threatens the Veracruz coral reef system and already faces strong opposition from local communities in the region.
Sheinbaums new LNG projects and the construction of the gas infrastructure increases Mexico's dependence on the U.S. and are obviously terrible for the environment. These are the same LNG projects that harm Gulf Coast communities in the U.S. Many deaths and illnesses are directly attributed to them
“The Forest Service routinely logs in national forests – it’s part of its standard management plan. In a 2022 report to Congress, the agency said it would increase logging in the east, south, and Pacific Northwest.”

The U.S. Forest Service is already set to increase the number of trees it harvests to one of the highest levels since 2019, a result of Biden-era policies. The pandemic disrupted and momentarily paused the agency’s plan to increase timber harvests.
PROPUBLICA Environment Despite Biden's Promise to Protect Old Forests, His Administration Keeps Approving Plans to Cut Them Down. 2024
The U.S. Forest Service is under the jurisdiction of the USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture.)
Why? Because they view forests as commodities to harvest for profit. This isn’t anything new...
Post from me (Ash) on threads: The Democratic Party went to great lengths to conceal documents, criminalize the youth on college campuses, restrict free speech, and straight up lied about g3nocide. This isn’t an ‘opps they messed up’ moment. I don’t think liberals have fully reckoned with how substantial that vile abuse of public trust was and still is. Yall need to realize they’ll lie about anything.
