Looks great except the letter is addressed to the former leader of the NDP rather than the new one.

LNG Canada exceeds estimated 2024 global record for burned gas | The Narwhal LNG Canada in Kitimat, B.C., burned more gas in 2025 than any other liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on record in 2024

This is a shocking story. Congrats to @thenarwhal.ca on exposing this.

LNG Canada in Kitimat – 🇨🇦's first major LNG facility – is now one of the highest sources of GLOBAL emissions for flaring, undermining claims that we produce the cleanest natural gas in the world: thenarwhal.ca/lng-canada-b...

...The piece makes the urgent case for a windfall profits tax on oil and gas companies, and explains why this is a far better approach then cutting gas taxes.

Fossil fuel companies are about to make a killing. As with the COVID pandemic & Russia’s invasion of Ukraine...

How are we supposed to make the transition to other fuels or systems without price signals to do so? If every time fuel prices rise, we cut taxes to blunt it, then there's less incentive to switch.

Yeah, that's bad. Dumb populism.

Think about it this way: If you had a pot of cash to hand out, who would you send it to? I'm guessing you wouldn't say: “Folks who drive a lot are obviously the neediest; that's who deserves my cash.. Also, I would love to subsidize reliance on foreign oil.”

So far this government has:

- removed EV mandates (and moreover paused rebates to stall the market)
- removed carbon tax
- removed low carbon electricity policy
- removed gasoline tax
- removed oil and gas cap

when does the Canadian Federal government do climate policy?

This year is all but guaranteed to be a super El Niño year (Over 2C on the Ocean Nino Index), if not the biggest El Niño in modern times. I don't think anyone is talking about this.

Here I marked the past four times that the Ocean Nino Index broke 2C.

The trend here is horrifying.

America is now on the clock.

We have two weeks to remove Donald Trump from office through the 25th Amendment or impeachment.

Not saying that will happen, only saying that a nation with even a shred of decency would get to work on it immediately.

Greta Thunberg: "The President of the United States just said that a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again & no one is reacting. This speaks for itself: what the fuck is anyone even doing at this point? We have normalized genocide, total annihilation of entire people."

High speed rail in Canada is a good investment. It’s the kind of ambitious nation-building that actually makes Canada more resilient etc. No surprise, far-right Pierre Poilievre says he’d cancel it, saying it will go over budget. Spoiler—it will. Just like EVERY car highway does. But he likes those.

Bruce Springsteen is some good, strong, sorely needed, goddamn medicine for Minnesota.

This is a concert that is, and my words won’t do it justice, amazing. Sharp, specific, resolute, angry, and inspired.

Some rock shows are all about just having a good time. Something larger is in play here.

Poilievre says government should cancel Toronto-Quebec City high-speed rail project | CBC News Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says the Liberal government should cancel the high-speed rail project planned to link Toronto and Quebec City.

Poilievre has no sense. Not only do we need this project, it should have happened decades ago. AND, it should extend to Windsor & Sarnia. Canadian rail is severely underdeveloped. People need viable options other than cars & planes to travel that corridor. #cdnpoli www.cbc.ca/news/politic...
