Thanks to long days on the farm this past week, I've had a lot of time think. Here are some of the worst ideas I've had so far:

-Farm mockumentary a la Clarkson's Farm, but in the style of Veep

I am looking forward to watching this bc I have spent plenty of time trying to explain to people how trees are produced at wholesale growers in order to disabuse people of this narrative.

Yeah, gerrymandering works great in years when voters are apathetic. Guaranteed modest win in most districts.

When they're pissed off though, "guaranteed modest win in every district" becomes a death sentence for exactly the party it was supposed to help.

he ruled for 16 years and rewrote the rules in his favor

and you know what? they did it by voting

Orbán’s defeat is also great news for Ukraine, which has been waiting for the EU money Hungary has been blocking

In competitive authoritarianism, leaders abuse state power to tilt the electoral playing field in their favor, manipulate the media environment and minimize opposition voices, maybe even steal close elections by lying about fraud. But they usually can't overcome a large majority voting against them.

Again there's simply no comparison between the scope, scale, & tone of the JOE BIDEN EPICALLY AND INCOMPETENTLY FAILED IN AFGHANISTAN coverage of August/September 2021 & the "just the facts, very measured" reporting of what's going on with Iran & Trump now.

This is the culmination of SIXTEEN YEARS of dogged work by everyday Hungarians.

You think that felt hopeless sometimes? I'm sure it did.
