No I think you're right. It's the difference between a TikTok video and watching a movie without picking up your phone. I think there is growing intolerance for art that isn't a big quick hit of dopamine but also people will always read books! So I think we just have to find our audiences

The Lindy West book sales are distressing for a number of reasons but one is that my number one rule for being a public-facing hater is you actually have to read the book and I fear many of those scorching hot takers in substack did not actually bother
