Epilogue/ending wrapped it up in a deeply satisfying and hopeful way. Will definitely recommend this book!! no need to respond, just, I know it can be nice to know that one’s work resonated 🧡 happy writing!

Big applause for your writing of the villains. It’s hard to make a reader feel so much anger and disdain for a hive without names (as opposed to one strong antagonist) but you did it so well! They were so dangerous and horrifying yet also so absurd. And memorable.

Fantastic tight 3 act structure. I haven’t read a book in a bit that was so disciplined in this and it felt refreshing. Or like, as unmoored and unfairly thrown away from purpose as the characters seemed to feel, kept the plot itself moving along well. Sorry if this doesn’t make a ton of sense?

Finished the book. Just wonderful. The right book to read at the right time. I loved every character. Jada’s loneliness stood out so sadly for me, and I truly loved the switch from the moment she really truly lost every *thing* but also in that hit-bottom moment she gained and accepted her friends.

Just started reading this. I tend toward sci fi and didnt really know what this book was about, just that I follow you on Bsky. I’m only as far as “the only proper 3am music is disco” and I’m adding it to my “Top California Dystopia Books” list ❤️ Beautiful prose. I’ll report back when I’m done

Map, from polarwx.com, of ECMWF model's forecast for 850mb temperatures later this week and their rank relative to the historical record for March over North America. A giant pink blob is visible over western North America, indicating an absurdly large area of record-breaking 850mb temperatures. In fact, there's almost nothing else to see on the map.

In fact, this will approach the Jun 2021 PacNW/BC heat event in terms of meteorological anomalousness (though not, fortunately, in terms of absolute surface temperatures. It is still *March*, after all!) Western snowpack, however, will plummet at an unprecedented pace.

My contribution to Super Bowl Sunday is this Jewish Aramaic incantation bowl with a demon on it. From Nippur, Mesopotamia, circa 6th-7th century CE.

Truly a super bowl.

32 people died in Sacramento car crashes in 2025. At a vigil, mourners remember Crashes killed at least 32 pedestrians in the city in 2025. More than 70 people gathered to remember lives lost.

Yesterday I attended a sad but moving event honoring the 32 Sacramento community members who lost their lives due to vehicular violence. Each of the cones represents one person who lost their life last year (1/x) @sacbee.com @arianelange.bsky.social

I follow a lot of journalists and news on here but rarely like/comment/post. I am grateful for local/regional news on bsky because there isn't that much of it here. Please stay!

Also, there are a *lot* of users that it's hard to tell if they are real or not. Check for accounts following 1000s.
