One week since I left my job and just over one week until I enter the convent! Trying to enjoy this space between by seeing friends etc but of course a bug has taken me down for days and I’m now on antibiotics. If anyone has prayers going spare, I’d appreciate them πŸ™πŸ»

Can you imagine the courage it took to preach this message directly to the president? This is what a follower of Jesus looks like. (Partial transcript below.)

A gathering of more than sixty Franciscan friars and Sisters are gathered around Christ on the cross.

November 29th is the feast of All Franciscan Saints. For eight centuries men and women have lived out their vocation for Christ in the way of Saint Francis and Saint Clare. Would you like to meet some of them? Robert Ellsberg has written a fine introduction: www.franciscanmedia.org/st-anthony-m...

Whether you agree with the proposed bill or not, I think the one thing we can agree on is that palliative care is dreadfully underfunded. Most is done by charitable organisations. That is indefensible. We need to put more money into end of life care. It’s about respect.

God as a Carpenter; hands shot through with nails

From 'The Vanishing Song' by Jay Hulme

In that moment, perhaps,
He remembered the things
He'd created,

in thirty years
of hammer striking wood.
And in His pain He thought
of all Creation

as good enough;

still good.
