The 1970s Red Sox had Yaz, Jim Rice, Dwight Evans, Fred Lynn, Luis Tiant and Carlton Fisk. Add Roger Clemens and Wade Boggs in the 8Os , Mo Vaughn and Nomar and Pedro in the 1990s.

There all-time great ball players on every franchise. The Red Sox and The Cubs were prime examples before they each broke through and won a World Series.
Man what kind of magic does Milwaukee have to take Red Sox retreads and turn them into effective starters.
Kyle Harrison was great in his Brewers debut: 5 innings, 4 hits, 1 walk, 1 run, 8 strikeouts. Got a no decision in his return to the National League. Talk about a good place for a young pitcher to land...
My thoughts exactly, Chad. This game was 2026 Red Sox baseball in a nutshell.
Why would they have changed them?
People getting excited over spring training games crack me up.
To go to the gym today, I am completely swagged out in boldstart sweat pants, a TechCrunch Disrupt t-shirt and an AWS re:invent hoodie.
Been listening to Waylon Jennings’ Honky Tonk Heroes
I was down at Green Gables, a-hawking them tables
And generally blowing all my hard-earned pay
Piano rolled blues, danced holes in my shoes
There weren't another other way to be
For lovable losers, no-account boozers
And honky-tonk heroes like me
Nothing but respect for Lindsey Vonn. What a fierce competitor.
Ill fated is putting it mildly. Sparky Lyle for Danny Cater was a monumentally bad deal in which the Sox not only got nothing, they helped the Yankees win a couple of more championships in the 70 s.
Worth noting that simply counting the number of playoff games is a bad metric given that the post season once was just the seven game World Series.
When you think about how long many NFL franchises spend in the wilderness of competitive mediocrity looking desperately for a franchise quarterback, it is remarkable how quickly the New England Patriots found theirs.
I find that hard to believe since he had Tommy John surgery and missed all of the 2024 season and had a 21 month gap between starts.
What do you think of the Dylan Cease signing?
Same
I get it, but if you’re a fan, you should be happy that their great run got more people interested in the team.
How is Aaron Judge a unique double threat?
Two things stick out for me in this picture: how empty the ballpark is and how short Lee’s hair is. He was remarkably consistent, winning 17 each season from 73-75. Would later win 16 with the Expos.
This is true when any local team gets there. Suddenly everyone’s on the bandwagon, but this Red Sox fan is rooting for them hard too. I’m really enjoying watching this gritty team play baseball. One win to finish it.
“Swing and a ground ball, stabbed by Foulke. He has it. He underhands it to first. And the Boston Red Sox are the world champions. Can you believe it?!”
Gotta go with Tiant
Huge boost for a potent lineup.
If only we could clone Crochet.
That’s remarkable
Reggie Smith had a nice career too.
Man I hate bullpen games and I hate them more in the middle of a playoff race. If Craig Breslow had done his job at the deadline and got a real starting pitcher instead of the entirely ineffective Dustin May, the Red Sox wouldn’t be in this situation.
Pretty good company.
This kid can play a little bit.
Happy Birthday to my childhood baseball hero.
