Dear Women heydearwomen UNPOPULAR OPINION: A lot of "mental health issues" disappear when all your bills are paid, rent is in the bag, and the fridge is full. In 2026, Peace costs an arm and a leg. And pretending money doesn't directly affect mental health is a privilege 99% of the world's population can't afford.

"Having an [unconditional basic income] was such an eye-opening and different experience for them that really moved them forward in ways that are tangible, but aren’t as popular or sexy to talk about in policy...
If someone’s telling you it’s changed their life, you need to listen to them."
Retired politicians are backing a basic income pilot in Prince Edward Island. A group of former elected officials is calling for a federal–provincial partnership, arguing it’s a practical, proven way to reduce poverty and improve economic stability. zurl.co/oLvsb
AI accelerationists support UBI
Unconditional basic income works. We have the studies. We have the data. What we don't have yet is the will. I think we can build it. I know we have to try. I know we have to fight for it. It's certainly not going to be handed to us by those who will definitely pay more in taxes as part of the deal.
Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?
Someone actually made a sheet music of Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) in Ghostbusters playing two high piano notes back and forth and then saying they hate this, I like to torture them.
The conspiracy against UBI gang hate it when we mention the "U" also stands for unconditional.
Because it is. It's unconditional. It's a floor. That's the whole thing.
Unconditional, unconditional, unconditional.

Elon's first speech, according to Gemini, was November 2016
Late Tesla engineer Gerald Huff's talk which included basic income, April 2015.
With UBI too Elon never "calculated" anything. He takes from others and makes it his, for his own marketing narrative.
If your employees make more on unemployment you're not a job creator you're a poverty exploiter.
Most basic income proposals are a modest floor. If it takes that, just that, **just enough** to cause people to bolt, like a horse with the gate open, maybe we should be looking at the job and not the basic income.
6 years ago and being a cleaner with limited reading time but lots of time to listen, I started a playlist about basic income/UBI to understand it.
Building the list(s) sort of became a thing.
So, here's the next in the series, UBI Now 20 Unconditional Breathing Space:

“Dependency Is the System: What Hungary Teaches Us About Basic Income and Democracy.” By Dániel Fehér, UBIE . org, 16 Apr 2026
Gun violence reduction, universal healthcare and basic income has to be the basis for us to move forward. My seven grandchildren deserve a better place to grow up in than this.
This was a fun one for me to write. It's the Angine de Poitrine argument for universal basic income. We could have more weird, awesome, truly human stuff like this if we all had UBI. We could have more Einsteins too. And because those things are true, the cost of NOT doing UBI isn't worth it.
We are in a place where non-essentials are more available and cheap but essentials such as housing, food, health and education continue to climb out of reach. We need to both go after what's driving these costs and, instead of allowing it, instead of allowing the financialization of everything, put that buying power back into people's hands. Basic income is the most direct way, simultaneously a statement of absolute human solidarity.
We do not fall apart when trusted. A basic income becomes leverage, the shop floor, the foundation, the breathing room, opening the mind for every and all possibilities.
Absolute human solidarity.
Universal basic income is not science fiction. It should exist for everyone. There's enough to make it happen.

That’s what the federal fuel tax suspension will cost Canadians, while doing little to support those struggling most. 1/3

Oh, but, yeah. Tech will be used to "enhance jobs". Yup. Totally.

They dont want it and push hard against anything like it because it doesn't work...

(It works fantastically for the rest of us.)

Comic style of four images of Pharaoh from The Ten Commandments Movie. Dialogue: Pharoah:The slaves I gave the UBI to ..where are they? Advisor (unseen):They combined their UBIs, hired a ship, and left, Pharaoh. (Pause) Pharoah: Fuck.
When they say "UBI is a trap" I always think of this. Its been around since nearly as long as this guy was around (for Christians, the bible's first tyrant.) So why didn't the powerful and unstoppable spring the big ol' UBI trap back then?
They just couldn't get the green light?
Sweeps, which have never succeeded in ANYTHING AND NEVER WILL, need to END.
The believe that humans only have value by their production and labour needs to end.
A human-centered economy with a livable income floor, rates that raise people out of despair needs to start.

They will claim that any progressive policy is automatically theft, regardless of how it's achieved. Where is that same concern for homeless folks who endure the sweeps? It isnt just tents but confiscated clothes, blankets, personal items, even loved one's ashes.
Sweeps and demonization of the unhoused is our society disgustingly, pointlessly proving the points of Locke, Spence and Paine as well as multiple leading basic income speakers.
We have enclosed and put locks on the ability to survive, forcing you to work for owners of assets.
I would add that our consumption patterns is affected by our working lives, purchasing as self assurance, feelings of scarcity...
When I smoked years back, a pretty dumb idea, I had all kinds of thought out rationalizations that kept those purchases going.

I once had someone call me a "know it all who knows not" after posting some UBI links.
Buddy, I wish.
