Portland Labor Rally against ICE Attacked with Tear Gas On January 31 my husband and I stood shoulder to shoulder with thousands of union members and community allies in Portland’s South Waterfront. We gathered for a peaceful, permitted rally and march: “L...

“We weren’t on the streets to 'riot' but to stand up for justice and dignity, the core of what labor solidarity means. Yet, chemical agents rained down in retaliation—volunteers acted to protect the elderly but there was no escape from the choking clouds.” labornotes.org/blogs/2026/0...

Ending protections from rape for anybody is incomprehensibly vile.

Wishing you and all Addison's close people the care and connection that makes it possible to hold this loss. It is endless and it matters so much to be able to share it. 💞💗💔💗💞

This type of reporting is so cynical. It was always the plan for the program to take in more money at the beginning to build up savings, then use those savings to expand the program so that it can become universal . The savings are not a waste, they are part of a responsible and measured plan.

Here is a list of companies advertising on KATU, the local Sinclair TV station that is continuing to keep Kimmel off the air. Call a couple and tell them you will boycott them until KATU airs Kimmel again.

The '3.5% rule': How a small minority can change the world Nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts – and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change.

There is research that shows how wherever 3.5% of the population rose up to counter their government they accomplished political transformation: www.bbc.com/future/artic...

It is true that the history of general strikes shows us they always involve some suffering and loss, sometimes a lot. I agree that we have to be prepared for that pain and aim for the change we can accomplish together in the long run

We can definitely work on building financial support systems for striking people. And if we can pull off a serious general strike we would have the economic leverage to force corporations and government to bend to our demands, including protecting people from evictions and cuts to insurance.

At one point I thought that higher education being targeted like this would finally get us all to see ourselves and each other as laborers under common struggles, rather than like, desperately doubling down on artificial divisions and protecting one’s own rank and privilege. Lol

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.
