it just feels so horrible
we feel powerless
we've tried fighting,
we've tried surrendering
we've tried ignoring
we've tried building
israel doesn't let you exist
that's it, our choice is fast death
or faster death

From a friend in Beirut this morning, who in the last few days has seen several Israel missile strikes within walking distance of their home.

This is not a war on a whim. It is a war to de-develop the region so Israel can dominate. As for Trump, he is a buffoon, but the decisions are being made by his Nazi aides, and their aim is to have a violent Reich that depends wholly on US militarism, rather than liberal imperial norms.

Spoke tonight to 30 people in a small-town public library in the Thames Valley. Average age about 65. I talked about Gaza for 40min. Then they asked me questions for another hour. Ordinary offline folk are absolutely starved of information. They know they’re being let down. They’re desperate to know

Seems that most people in most countries other than the US worked this out long ago. It would be nice if their elected and/or unelected representatives, not to mention media editors, would catch up and do the same

All true, but then again I’m enjoying fewer opinions and acting/organising more offline and finding meaning in less news generally. I wish bsky was less white americentric anglophone but hey

'An Iranian missile landed on him': Sky News speaks to son of expat who died in United Arab Emirates Saleh Ahmed, 55, was delivering drinking water when he was fatally struck by debris after a missile attack on the first day of the war. His son tells Sky News he does not believe his father knew the c...

Victims in our countries seldom get profiled and humanised in Western media. This is a portrait of a life cut short. What a tragedy.

"Saleh Ahmed (55) lived in the UAE as an expat for 25 years, sending under £500 per month in earnings to Bangladesh for his wife and four children."

Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez:

You may have heard that Spain is alone. They’re the same people who said that when we recognized the State of Palestine, and then others followed.

We are not alone — we are the first. Those who will end up alone are the ones defending the indefensible.

Conservative economic policy in the 1980s meant that Britain’s oil windfall was spent on enriching one sector of society and thereby deepening division and inequality, so that by the time the money ran out there was nothing to show for it, least of all a functional rail system. Contrast Norway.

There's enough well documented atrocities happening right now. I don't see why people have to invent ones.

Nice idea but Trump doesn’t think. He can’t. It’s about the enablers, for whom Trump is perfect cover

Dear mushy-headed liberal people

1- Trump is too stupid to know anything. Miller and the enablers aren’t, but they don’t care about infinite, they care about the next 5 years

2- Putin’s had 30 years and isn’t ashes or dust

3- That arc of the moral universe shit makes you feel good, right?

4- Act

Well, Prime Minister, it’s your Chamberlain moment. Is this a country far away of which we know little, like you judged Palestine to be?
