Absolutely I will!

Finally … *finallyyyyyyy* reading Salvage The Bones right now. Glad I have 3 or 4 others of Jesmyn Ward’s books on my shelves already because her writing is so wonderful.
I hope your reading in ‘26 has been good so far!
A bit of a giggle for me that I have the exact sticker on my car of the shirt Wil is wearing here.
I finally started reading my first Dick Gregory book today and I am immediately and fully locked in. No doubt that I am going to make it a critical move to add more of his books to my library after this one.
I am so tempted to do this too but do I need another project?
So many good books here. I just added Glasgow Boys to my needs list.

I’m really glad for you that it did happen even that late in their ride. Getting to see Jerry… there really just is no substitute or match for that.
It dates me but I feel honored to be able to have seen the Grateful Dead quite a number of times and witness their craft. It will never ever be anything close to the same with Jerry, Phil and now Bobby gone.
It’s a compelling page turner for sure. Perfect little in between book with what I think will be a good kick in it.
I kinda randomly grabbed “The Ballad Of Black Tom” by Victor LaValle off my shelf to be my likely final book of the year. (After just finally reading “Giovanni’s Room” after way too much putting that off)
I may be finally trying it out in ‘26 too! May the odds be in our favor!

Happy to say that there are a LOT of people in person voting, at least 2 locations in Southern OC tonight. (I mean… hopefully lots of Yes on 50)

I haven’t been keeping up with Tiny Desks as much this year.
What are some of the performances that need to be seen & heard from this year so far?
I wrote about what the desperate attempt to find a trans connection to the Charlie Kirk assassination tells us about the deep psychological impulses at work in Trumpism. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/19/o...
Having JUST finished A Little Life, you have my full attention…
So relieved to have a POTUS that is so knowledgeable that he describes things as “super duper advanced” 🫠
I would completely believe you if you told me there is additions of Prince vocals on Anderson Paak’s song “Cheers” from the Oxnard album. (Especially at the end…)
Guess I’m gonna do a deep dive right now.
I am relieved I have never seen the discourse but also… just… flummoxed.
“You should pirate books” is an actual response?!? 🫣🫣
Thanks for posting this… I’m looking it up immediately
The tragic Challenger disaster. In my science class that was taught by one of the teachers who nearly made it to the final group to be onboard. Quite the emotional class day for all of us.
I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.
It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.

and *then*, talk about what you read with others. Other perspectives open our eyes in beautiful ways.
(Can you tell I just had a beautiful book club experience today?)
but read things to keep you alert and learning. Not just about our present, but I beseech (I never say that word, but this feels like the right post for it) you to read about our history too. Our REAL history. The good, the bad and the oh so ugly.
Read about our planet.
Read to save your life. 3/
…not only “lovely”, but *important* and a big privilege that some in this country would hate for y’all to find ways to do.
But, this is coming from someone who feels down to the soul of my soul that reading is absolutely political. Read the stuff that cleanses your soul and makes you laugh too 2/
