Big Tech wrote the EU law that hides their data centres' environmental impact.

The EU wants to triple its data centre capacity in the next five years. While the full scale of their energy and water footprint is hidden from the public.

Our new @investigate-europe.eu investigation reveals why.

‘Everything is gone’: Israel destroys entire villages in Lebanon Rights groups fear tactic of ‘domicide’ trialled in Gaza, where entire areas are made uninhabitable, is being used again

On top of mass forced displacement & death of hundreds of civilians, #Israel forces dynamite entire villages in southern #Lebanon - mirroring mass destruction used in #Gaza.

@kajakallas.bsky.social: "heavy-handed"? No - it's criminal & totally unjustified.

Is AI the greatest art heist in history? New technologies of reproduction are plundering the art world – and getting away with it

Another excellent article in the Guardian's series of reflections about AI.

On April 8, Israel conducted over 100 strikes across Lebanon, killing over 300 people.

The strikes also damaged the Qasmieh bridge, the only lifeline connecting southern Lebanon with the rest of the country.

A message from Lebanon: The Israeli Government’s impunity will not end without action - Greenpeace International Governments must hold the Israeli government accountable under international law, impose arms embargoes and meaningful sanctions that create genuine political and economic consequences.

“The people in #Lebanon and the #MiddleEast deserve an immediate and permanent ceasefire and a just peace grounded in international humanitarian law. I hope this nightmare ends soon, but I know it will only end when governments of the world do more than watch from the sidelines.”

These aren’t AI firms, they’re defense contractors. We can’t let them hide behind their models From Gaza to Iran, the pattern is the same: precision weapons, chosen blindness, and dead children. The cost of failing to regulate AI warfare is already too high

You can’t make this up:

@vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu, @marossefcovic.bsky.social & Cyprus minister Raouna spoke at a EU Parliament debate on "The US-Israel military operation against the Iranian regime” - and they managed not to *mention* the US or Israel *once* in their 4 speeches 👇🏼

AI is just another tool to reduce your critical thinking, increase inequality, and deplete the planet's natural resources just for the profit of a few corporations.

"Perfectly established", no, the established practice since the Lisbon Treaty has been to await the EU Parliament's consent before provisionally applying trade deals. Plus it's highly unusual to apply while there is a pending process in the European Court of Justice.

@vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu's move reeks of desperation. It exposes how she’s more interested in appeasing a handful of multinationals than in the rights and interests of people & the 🌍🌳.

The animal cruelty the EU-Mercosur deal will be importing to Europe Without meaningful safeguards, the EU-Mercosur agreement – as it stands – risks locking the EU into a system that expands imports of meat produced under conditions that fall far below EU regulations. The deal would lower tariffs — without requiring imported products to meet equivalent European animal welfare standards.
