Only 33% of Virginia elementary schools have SSOs (School Security Officers). Loudoun elementary schools are AHEAD of the curve - every elementary school in LCPS has a SSO.

Last year, LCPS school board members voted to cut the DEIA program (Griffiths, Labell) & against updates to the Equal Opportunity policy (Shernoff, Griffiths). They were willing to nix diversity, equity, inclusion & accessibility as soon as Trump gave them the ok.
To those that stood firm, thanks!
Proportional, evidence-based policy is essential, especially when it comes to young children.

If crime is down and elementary schools already experience low levels of serious violence, are taxpayer dollars better invested in:
• School counselors
• School psychologists
• Social workers
• Restorative practices
• After-school and community programs
Publicly spotlighting cooperation with ICE — especially during heightened national immigration enforcement — while advocating for more officers in elementary schools may cause some families to question whether schools are becoming extensions of immigration enforcement.
The American Academy of Pediatrics and other professional groups recommend prioritizing counselors, psychologists, and preventive mental health supports over increased policing in schools.
National Center for Education Statistics data show elementary schools have comparatively low rates of violent crime.
A Journal of Adolescent Health study of 179 school shootings (1999–2018) found no evidence that SROs reduced deaths or injuries
Serious crime in Loudoun decreased 11% last year, according to the Sheriff’s own statement.
A National Institute of Justice–funded study of every school shooting found schools with armed officers on scene had a death rate 2.83 times higher than schools without one.
If crime is decreasing, why expand policing into elementary schools while publicly emphasizing collaboration with federal immigration enforcement?
Here are facts worth considering:
In a recent interview, the Sheriff renewed his proposal to place School Resource Officers (SROs) in every Loudoun County elementary school over the next four years. In that same appearance, he also highlighted the Sheriff’s Office’s cooperation with ICE.
Loudoun currently has 38 SROs. Other large districts in VA:
Fairfax-59
Prince William-35
Virginia Beach City-30
Chesterfield-25
Henrico-21
Chesapeake-17
None of the above have SROs in their elementary schools.
An additional 62 SROs in Loudoun would be a 5.5% increase in SROs in the entire state!

Memo: Housing Transition Fund
Let’s show these 86 families they are not alone.
✅ 100% of donations go through trusted social work agencies
✅ Funds will support deposits, moving expenses, and essential needs
✅ $11,000 has already been raised, but far more is required
Local churches have launched a Housing Transition Fund to provide direct, needs-based assistance so families aren’t left behind in one of the most expensive counties in the country.
Many are losing the only affordable housing they’ve ever had, along with the equity they built in their homes. Families will face steep moving costs, deposits, down payments, and mid-year school changes for their children, all during the holiday season.
📢 86 Loudoun families are being displaced, and they need us.
A mobile home community in Leesburg is being cleared for redevelopment, forcing 86 families to relocate before the end of the year.
Our schools cannot function, and our communities cannot heal, when facts are sacrificed for headlines. We will continue to stand with students and families committed to facts, inclusion, and safe schools for everyone.
We must ensure that our school administrators do not tolerate bullying or harassment and that they enforce the board's zero-tolerance bullying policy.
We are reminded of the incident in 2021, when, much like this year, an event at Stone Bridge High School was used by political operatives to attack transgender students and swing votes.
Loudoun4All condemns this campaign of disinformation in the strongest possible terms. Furthermore, we ask why this episode of harassment was allowed to go on for a full school year before being addressed.
Parents and politicians who misrepresent bullying over the span of an entire school year as “discomfort” are not defending free expression—they are defending harassment.
Loudoun4All reaffirms that our schools must protect all students from harassment and ensure every child is treated with dignity and respect.
The judge’s requirement of a six-figure bond underscores the weakness of the plaintiffs’ case and undercuts the narrative being circulated by their parents and political backers.
This order is not a finding against LCPS. This injunction does not invalidate the investigation, overturn the findings, or clear the students of responsibility. It is a procedural pause, not an exoneration.
The injunction halts two students’ suspensions from Stone Bridge High School. The judge required the plaintiffs to post a $125,000 bond by October 15, citing “significant weaknesses in the plaintiffs’ allegations.”
It has once again used LCPS students, educators, and families as political pawns in a cynical effort to stoke fear and division. On Friday, October 10, a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction temporarily pausing LCPS’ enforcement.
