This fuel crisis could last for a while. It’s time for a new approach to fuel use - end it With the same fiscal support that Canberra found to back the oil industry, we could start to end our oil dependence.

The U.S. smashed heat records in March. Just wait for El Niño this summer March’s persistent heat was unseasonably intense, and the next year or so looks to turn the dial up on global warmth even more, as some forecasts predict a brewing El Niño will reach superstrength.

March's persistent unseasonable heat was so intense that the continental United States registered its most abnormally hot month in 132 years of records, according to federal weather data. https://to.pbs.org/3Ogo4AX

Sure it’s hot, but it’s not “unprecedented” heat for this time of year.

Just how bad is this spring’s drought?? The worst in US History, going all the way back to the 1890s, even worse than Dust Bowl springs. And #Florida is among the worst in the nation… 1/

Whew.

All signs are increasingly pointing to a significant, if not strong to very strong, El Niño event. I'll have more to say in coming weeks & months, but for now I'll just say that this is increasingly likely to become a major regional-to-global climate driver in 2026-2027.

It's ALWAYS about money.

Fire and flood Insurance premiums are going up.

And better sell that beach house.

We must take the money out of #co2 pollution. Start with a fee on the extraction of #FossilFuels. Give it ALL back to the people.

It's always about money.

Put a price on pollution with a fee for extracting #fossilfuels.
Raise the fee on a predictable basis.
Give ALL that revenue back to the people to adjust to a carbon free economy.
