Best GIS ever built

I'm working on creating webGIS applications from scratch.
My Goal: Increase interactivity and engagement in the #golf industry, move away from the same old boring static maps for courses and demonstrate the huge potential for #gis #spatial in golf beyond GPS trackers. Excited to share more!!
I've always like Polaroids - Tried to knock out a #QGIS #atlas to generate polaroid styles for #golf clubs near my joint. Got to figure out how to pivot my #GIS skills back into the golf world.
Does this affect the usage of GDAL and products that use it within US Gov agencies?
Sharing my favourite recording from FOSS4G SotM Oceania in Hobart late last year. Such a cool keynote from Andrea Jalandoni on the application of photogrammetry, lidar, hillshades, false colour imagery etc for rock art research.

Duntryleague #golf #club in Orange NSW, is considered a prestige course in Central West NSW. Regularly in the conversation when talking top 100 courses in the country. Old school charm, and immaculate course presentation, a real pleasure to play. duntryleague.com.au
Tucked away on the outskirts of Cooma in the Snowy Mountains. This club punches well above its weight. Run largely by volunteers who love their course (looks at those fairway lines π), and country hospitality second to none. This was one of the best clubs I have been a member of.

Dubbo Golf Club - My old stomping ground and still one of my favourite golf courses. In Western NSW you don't get many gems like this. With 27 holes you could always get a game. Loved this place growing up - www.dubbogolfclub.com.au

You'll be kicking yourself! We had the blue one and my mum sold it when I left home....shattered π
@iokyle.com I have a question. I know you're a Mac guy but have you ever dabbled in Linux distros? I've enjoyed using Zorin Os on a shitty old Dell laptop. I'm trying to figure out if a Intel Mac Mini would be good hardware to run on. Keen to know if you've dabbled in old mac minis and Linux?
My local #golf club in #Bathurst - Great country course, bent grass greens and couch fairways. A real gem in the central west.
π€£ that's a cracking Winter time hack. Heat up loose change + place in pocket = hand warmers.
Did the phone still charge with the coin inbetween?
One of my all time favourite #golf courses. Glad to see that its in new hands and have an injection of funding. Was way to good to be let go. www.thewentworthorange.com.au
Same experience as @berttemme.bsky.social on Windows, once QDuckDB installer smooth as butter.
Trans Am at Mt Panorama were so cool. Fast, loud and accessible to fans!!
(1/5) My employer, ToitΕ« Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (linz.govt.nz) is now sponsoring GDAL (gdal.org/en/latest/sp...).
I believe we are the first government mapping agency to directly sponsor the project. Would be great to have some peers join us!

Excellent, thanks for the direction. I'll have a play and see what happens.
Wait a minute....is this your blog? bertt.wordpress.com/2023/08/21/e...
This is the only helpful resource I have found about this topic out there. I'm interested in how they achieve the lights on effect of the model. Like is there a style guide or design language to follow or is it secret sauce?
Yes. To be clear though, the models like those in the standard style that adjust to lighting by have the glass and illumination appearances. I've seen this model example docs.mapbox.com/mapbox-gl-js... but I'm not sure its the same technique/process.
BTW plugin works a treat!
Now you're just rubbing it in π
π€£ they do look amazing!
That's awesome. I'm also interested in your basemaps game! What are you using?
Need the micro mapping styles mate π
that looks awesome - want!
@mapbox.com come on. Talk to me!
Those styles are awesome. Love it!
As we travel for Thanksgiving, take a moment to explore the evolving geography of the US. Kerry Bannen created an interactive map that traces the changing boundaries of US counties over time.
