It has been a brutal 3 months filled with very difficult decisions to get here but this is what @govpritzker.illinois.gov and our whole team has had our sights set on as the deployment of the guard into our communities was a line we never wanted the administration to be able to cross.

We quibbled about a few of the placements on this list but I assure you that the Governor of Illinois knows Star Wars.

Today’s local Chicago press follow is @heathercherone.bsky.social who reports for WTTW. Again - the Chicago press is covering the actions on the ground of ICE and CPB very carefully and thoroughly and deserves the follows from media and citizens from out of state.

The mother of Katie Abraham, who DHS named “in honor” of Operation Midway Blitz, came out against it to reclaim her daughter’s legacy.

Armed Agents Raid South Shore Apartment Building Overnight Tuesday Federal agents arrived in moving trucks and knocked down doors inside the building, witnesses said. The Department of Homeland Security said 37 people were arrested.

This action follows widespread reports of children being zip tied, separated from their parents, and detained for several hours on the evening of September 30 at an apartment building in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago.

If DCFS receives allegations of suspected abuse or neglect by federal agents, the State of Illinois will take formal steps to pursue every possible avenue to ensure the safety and well-being of children, including collaborating with local law enforcement as necessary.

Gov. Pritzker has directed the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the Illinois Department of Human Services to coordinate support for the innocent children and families impacted by a federal military-style operation in Chicago, and to determine steps to hold feds accountable.

This is the playbook, folks.

If you're not paying attention now and doing something about it, then you're going to have to sit down the rest of your life because democracy is being taken away.

Do not be quiet in this moment.

This is why just posting “everything is terrible and there is nothing we can do” is bad. We still have ways to resist that matter. GET LOUDER.

For those who are part of the backlash - please point me to a concrete example of Donald Trump (or JD Vance or Stephen Miller) doing something to calm the country’s nerves. Be specific. Living in a post-truth era is a choice for some folks right now - we choose not to live there.

Kristi Noem planned a press conference at the Governor’s mansion in Springfield today to lie about bipartisan public safety laws.

So Gov. Pritzker made sure to share a reminder with her about following our nation’s laws.

She ended up choosing a different location.

Voting is a fundamental right and sacred responsibility of every American.

Yet, once again Donald Trump is ignoring the rule of law and circumventing Congress.
