Worth noting the 2020 ANES sample is weird because of axing most ftf interviews for online instead. Led to a more sophisticated sample, which is relevant for political SM use.

Extremely relevant to the “Is Bluesky Dying” debate.
Insane misogyny and Islamophobia
Republicans in red states have gerrymandered to shit and back, often illegally, and when voters have passed initiatives to ban the practice, they have (even more illegally) ignored and undercut them. It is a little late to clutch your pearls and weep about the sanctity of democracy now
"The UAE has long denied supporting the RSF, which has been fighting Sudan's regular army for three years.
El-Fasher's fall was one of the most brutal chapters of the conflict, which has led to the world's worst humanitarian crisis..."
“To say that President Trump is corrupt is to somehow understate the size, scope and magnitude of his corruption.
It is as if you were to describe a modern thermonuclear device as a ‘bomb.’ That is true enough, but it is not quite the truth. It does not capture the nature of the thing in full.”
I swear to god if we do anything even resembling a bailout for the UAE, one of the richest countries on earth and a major corrupt crypto donor to Donald Trump and the key backer of Sudan genocide

Lawyer earned his paycheck on that one.
"The US system needs to be overhauled very fundamentally . . . whether we do that in my lifetime i don't know"

Conservatives have been trained for decades to think of Constitutions not as agreed-upon rules for fair governance, but as a series of cheat codes and loopholes that let them hold power even when the voters want to throw them out. They won't accept anything less than permanent domination of us.
I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals
A lot of folks have learned in recent years to stop believing in Democrats. Let's be like Sen. Louise Lucas & give them reason to believe again.
Nothing subtle or complicated about what's happening. Did I mention the only refugees we're taking from the entire world are white people from South Africa?
Listen, they are building concentration camps and threatening genocide against a country of 90 million people. There is not a single remotely legal tactic that is impermissible when it comes to stopping them.
Yet again I remind everyone (as Elizabeth does in her very next tweet) that "foreigners are corrupting our pure blood with weakness & disease" is Fascism 101. Not some variant, not some metaphorically similar thing, not some echo -- the thing itself.
Every fucking time!!!!!

The DOJ was created to increase the capacity for federal prosecutions during Reconstruction esp. those to be brought under the newly enacted KuKlux Klan Act.
Now the DOJ is being used to prosecute a storied civil rights organization whose central mission has been to expose & dismantle the Klan.
So much of the media is urban liberals and centrists who have the weirdest hangups about rural voters
There are some silver linings to the fascists of all stripes being mask-off these days. Makes our job a lot easier.
Cf. the Bezos Post, "Republicans gerrymandering in Texas is fine, actually" b/w "Democrats gerrymandering in Virginia is a threat to democracy"
Also fascinating that Indiana redistricting did not happen in part because a powerful Republican state senator was fed up with Trump using the r-word.
So much false equivalence in media on gerrymandering in Texas vs California & Virginia. California and Virginia maps approved by the voters. That's a huge difference not enough people pointing out
it is very funny how these people are so accustomed to essentially bullying democratic politicians that they meltdown when met with appropriate pushback.
in any case, the process to amend the virginia constitution has multiple stages where, at any point, an amendment can be defeated.
I will never get over this
I'm sure Alito is fuming about the Virginia vote and itching to strike down the rest of the Voting Rights Act as petty revenge.
But Democrats are likely retaking the House, maybe the Senate, no matter what SCOTUS does now.
Killing the VRA would just be a final insult that speeds court reform.
We need Democrats to pledge that they will be every bit as ruthless as Republicans fear we will be.
This is the most corrupt, lawless administration in history. If we don't hold people accountable—with real, serious consequences—it will only be worse next time.
