In Robert Jordan's WHEEL OF TIME series the characters celebrate a festival called Bel Tine. In Sarah J. Maas' THRONE OF GLASS books they celebrate Beltane. At first I thought maybe it was a subtle reference by Maas to Jordan's work. Nope, both are taken from a real thing, basically Gaelic May Day.

I talked about DEADLOCH but never followed up why I knew I would love it when I saw Kates McLennan and McCartney were the creators. Prime. I got interested when others (like Bully? maybe?) mentioned the new season. It became must-watch for me when I learned the Kates were behind it -- McLennan and McCartney, Australian comics I've loved for ages. "Sugar has been linked to dementia, corn, Americans."
THE POWER BROKER is one of the best books I've ever read but it's SO MUCH for SO LONG (almost 1300 pages) I have to break it up with lighter stuff. Reminiscent of DON QUIXOTE! I also read Jennette McCurdy's HALF HIS AGE like in between chapter 7 and 8
Reading: rereading Waid/Wieringo FF, while rereading BANDETTE for like the 3rd time, while waiting for HARLEY & IVY and WONDER WOMAN to finish current storylines before binging, also THE POWER BROKER by Robert Caro and something by Sarah Maas
Watching: got new DAREDEVIL and THE BOYS today, recently have really enjoyed DEADLOCH and A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS, REGGIE DINKINS is hilarious, BEST MEDICINE (remake of the British DOC MARTIN) is decent background noise. Movies: SEND HELP was absolutely the silly Sam Raimi gorefest I wanted
I've tried, in my later years, to not be the gatekeeper, not be the "You've never seen THE GODFATHER???" kind of guy. So I will just say you should begin at the beginning of the GROO Epic solo series and you will probably like it. I remember spending ten minutes on single pages, devouring the art
I had similar difficulties rereading it a few years back. When it's good it's VERY good, but you are never unaware that it is a pretty pure expression of that guy, best and worst. Even the non-that guy issues are pretty decent, actually.
Time for a TWILIGHT ZONE rewatch. Thinking of "The Dummy" today, specifically the bit where Willie lays everything out. We mimicked this ad infinitum in middle school, the delivery is SO GOOD. "You moved my mouth, you stuck out my tongue, you JERK. Don't you GET it? You MADE me what I AM today."
