STOP TRYING TO MAKE HASAN PIKER HAPPEN!
I don't know who he is, I don't want to know who he is, and I have too many things to care about, already.
Lemme know if he's a Nazi so I can punch him. Otherwise I do not care.
I just watched the longest scene on earth of him kissing Kira and the sounds of it are disgusting. Shut your wet lips Bareil and stop touching Kira
Amazingly scripted scene that could be a stage play, the Bareil walks in, “these are my friends,” it’s perfect you’re so happy, and then Bareil takes that balloon full of energy and makes a fart noise as he lets the air out
Odo shouting at Kira to not accept being transferred and then the rest of the crew coming to say goodbye one by one while Odo pour is a scene that will always live rent free in my mind.
It's a really theatrical scene, in a good way, I really like the energy and pace of it.
Until Bareil arrives.
I hate Bareil. He has the charisma of a wet blanket and the chemistry with Kira of two rocks.
Casting a sack of potatoes as Vedek Bareil is an undeniable mistake. Like, Kira is supposed to be really, really into Vedek Bareil, and uhhh, she ain't. Those two have anti-chemistry.
I know that's not Bareil but this post made me mad about how boring Bareil is all over again
Does anyone else get violently repulsed whenever kira makes out with bareil or is it just me
They sell ANDOR action figures, of course, and of course the audience is 35-50-year-olds, but it's deeply funny to imagine children playing with little Luthen Rael and Saw Gerrera dolls.
CHILD 1: I think violence is not only justified, but demanded
CHILD 2: I agree, but haste could be our undoing
Kira's boringest boyfriend Vedek Bareil? Action figure.
pondering what these business savants predicting employment apocalypse think will happen if a third of the population is unemployed in a country with no safety net, rotating this massive, faceted jewel of pure stupidity in my mind

#OtD 16 Apr 1970 a white foreman at a Chrysler plant in Detroit threatened to murder a Black worker. When the worker complained, he was sacked. 1000 workers, Black & white, went on strike in protest until management backed down. More in our pod: workingclasshistory.com/podcast/e61-...
#OtD 21 Apr 2007 150 garment workers, mostly women, occupied the Mansoura-España textile factory in Egypt against job losses and unpaid wages. The workers won concessions after holding out for two months against bosses and their union stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/9342...

#OtD 21 Apr 1873 the Frankfurt Beer Riots began. The riots were a response to the 12.5% increase in the price of beer, and the police called in the army. Several died, a red flag was raised, and many were injured and arrested, but the price was reduced
We should normalize the expression "I have sorrow".
Sometimes I say "I'm sorry [bad thing] happened" and then some perky smartass corrects me "You don't need to be sorry! It isn't your fault!"
No, "I have sorrow". Sorrow seeps out of blackened dreams and shutters the very light of my soul.
Dem leadership for generations: no you fool, you infant. It is a process. It takes time and political capital and expertise, it's-
Mamdani, dusting off his hands: fixed it
Dem leadership: what do you mean you fixed it
Mamdani: Just had to unplug it.
Dem leadership: changing this is a difficult process, you fool. You rube. You utter infant. Give us between $5 and $50
Mamdani, wiping grease off his hands: So it turns out there's a switch on this machine that puts it into either orphan-shredding mode or free school lunch mode. Just had to flip it

I thought this point Eric made about how libraries are early introductions to a social contract was really interesting, too:

it’s so funny that the drunk tv host in charge of the military is like “real warriors don’t need vaccines” when all the greatest generals in history would have done anything for a jab that kept their armies safe from disease

LAFAAAYEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTE MY KING
But when we crave power over life—endless wealth, unassailable safety, immortality—then desire becomes greed. And if knowledge allies itself to that greed, then comes evil. Then the balance of the world is swayed, and ruin weighs heavy in the scale.
