Initial results from the Big Survey of >5000 pwME are deeply disturbing⦠disbelief by NHS healthcare professionals, made to feel their ME was their fault, traumatic encounters with clinicians.
This can not continue.
More on 11 Mayšš½.
Thanks @kacheston.bsky.social and @actionforme.bsky.social.
Thank you to everyone who joined or hosted @timfarron.bsky.social and I during his visit to Somerset.
Thank you too for sharing your ideas and asking such good questions about the environment and the importance of investing in, and protecting, our rural communities.
Thank you to all those who attended our first 'Women in Business Brunch' at Blossoms CafƩ in Wells on Friday morning. It was fantastic to spend time with so many business, charity leaders and entrepreneurs. Thanks also to @sarahgibsonmp.bsky.social for sharing her experience and insights.
Like many in the ME community Iām deeply disturbed at the news that DHSC is pausing work on a specialist service for very severe ME until April 2027. Itās been good then to be able to talk with minister Sharon Hodgson, and Carolyn Leary from Forward ME. The very understandable concerns are heard.
Thanks for letting me know. I have seen the DHSC email and am working on a parliamentary response with colleagues, especially around appropriate interim provision from DHSC for people with very severe ME. I appreciate the consternation in the ME community. There can not be any more āeventsā.
On Sunday, I was delighted to join Peter Dixon at his swearing-in ceremony as the new High Sheriff of Somerset.
Been busy, meeting the NFU, WWF & RSPCA to talk about making sure UK trade deals ensure imports match our high agri-food, environmental and animal welfare standards.
Marking International Women's Day this weekend with Amnesty International and Oxfam at the Penniless Porch in Wells.
I'm proud to stand in solidarity with the many female prisoners across the globe who are held in terrible conditions without access to legal or welfare support.
"Those with ME have experienced years of being treated unjustly. Sometimes, it feels endless and irreversible. But remember this: getting things done in parliament starts with having MPs on your side." Tessa Munt MP. New #ThereForME Substack post.
We're delighted to share today's #ThereForME blog from friend of the campaign @tessamunt.bsky.social.
In her blog, Tessa lays out the case for change and how to get involved.

Thank you, Ashley, for the interest that you have taken in the struggles of those affected by ME.
With my every good wish as you continue with your treatment, and serve your constituents in West Lancashire.

Iāve been a proud member of Greenpeace for 50+ years. I was delighted to visit their ship āWitnessā in London last month.
I support Greenpeaceās ambition to protect 30% of the Atlantic Ocean by 2030, transforming coastal renewal here, and demonstrating bold global leadership for ocean protection. šš¾
ā©Success! I'm pleased to learn, following the campaigning of many, that First Bus are proposing to put two early evening journeys back on the 174. I'm delighted that First Bus are listening to residentsā concerns and making these changes.
In Shepton Mallet with Anna Sabine MP, Cllr Claire Sully and Somerset Bus Partnership to protest against First Busās decision to cut some of the 174 evening service from Wells to Bath. Local people are really worried that this will make it impossible to keep their jobs. First Bus must think again.
Thanks to The Times for highlighting Savannahās story and the critical issue that there is no specialist NHS service for very severe ME. Grateful to Ashley Dalton for our recent brief call but still waiting for progress report re ME Plan commitment to explore such a service, including treatments.
Quite proud of my āfirst placeā in the Guestsā Race at Litton Pancake Races in the village hall this morning. To be fair, there were only two of us!
Thank you to Litton villagers for being such good sports, and for raising an amazing Ā£220 for Wellsā Food Bank.

Many thanks @lucibee.bsky.social . Could you please email the full answer to me at Tessa.munt.mp@parliament.uk.
Savannah Victora-May has been in hospital for 11 months with severe ME; a dearth of specialist treatment has contributed to her situation.
The Govtās Final Delivery Plan committed to exploring a specialised service for very severe ME. *What* is happening to prevent more cases such as Savannahās?
On World Cancer Day, Iām proud to support work to ensure that everyone with cancer can access the treatment and support they need in a timely way.
I've long wanted that across the NHS, the most up to date Radiotherapy machines are available to all. Iāll continue to press the Government on this.

On this Holocaust Memorial Day, we mark 81 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau camp.
I honour the memory of the millions who lost their lives in this atrocity.
May we remember them, work to stop such horrors from being repeated, and build a peaceful, unified and compassionate future.
We desperately need good data to make the case for ME to government. The Big Survey - designed with #pwME for #pwME will be a great help. If you've got ME or ME-like symptoms as part of long Covid, do consider taking part. But, remember that the Big Survey closes tomorrow, Tuesday. šš¾
