The burial of Jesus, is often depicted as the 14th Station of the Cross, and occurs after his crucifixion when his body is taken down, wrapped in linen, and placed in a new rock-hewn tomb by Joseph of Arimathea.

“Faithful Cross, above all other,
One and only noble Tree,
None in foliage, none in blossom,
None in fruit thy peer may be;
Sweet the wood and sweet the iron,
And the load, most sweet is he”.
(Good Friday Morning Prayer)
“Keep watch,
dear Lord,
with those
who work,
or watch,
or weep
this night”.

This is our carved wooden reredos depicting the Last Supper on the original #MaundyThursday in our church . @standrewstrowse.bsky.social
⚪ In the White Purse was a set of specially minted silver Maundy coins totalling 77 pennies, to match The King’s age.
🔴 In the Red Purse was a £5 coin commemorating 100 years since Queen Elizabeth II’s birth, and a 50p coin that celebrates the 50th anniversary of The King’s Trust.
Maundy Money is distributed in recognition of recipients’ outstanding Christian service and for making a difference to their local communities.
His Majesty presented recipients with two purses containing the unique Maundy Money.
Good to see Bishop +Graham on duty at today’s Royal Maundy Service which took place at St Asaph Cathedral in North Wales this morning. ⛪
During the service, His Majesty The King presented Royal Maundy gifts to approximately 77 men and 77 women from Wales and other dioceses across the UK.
MAUNDY THURSDAY commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples. This was the final meal that Jesus Christ shared with his disciples before his arrest and crucifixion.
May this day help us remember the Last Supper & the teachings of Jesus, deepen our faith & relationship with God.
MAUNDY THURSDAY 6pm a simple meal of jacket potatoes & various fillings. All very welcome, let us know you’re coming.
This is then followed by THE LITURGY OF THE LAST SUPPER
