I've read some fantastic articles on media localization in the last year. Some on manga translation and lettering, on how some English-based games were handled in other languages, and even on how to criticise translation in media. Highly recommend all of these!

People rarely realize how they are quoting the translator and not the author.

The end of this year marks my second full year translating light novels, and my first full year translating manga. I feel like I've learned so much from when I started, and I'm looking forward to continuing improving my skills in 2025

One of my pet peeves when playing games is bad subtitles. Tiny text, illegible fonts, no speaker names, poor line breaking, the list goes on! Movies and TV have standardized style guides, so why don't games?!
Anyway, so I decided to rant about it.
