Stile and field.
Minding my own business today in the hills and got caught up in the entire field of HH50 which I'd forgotten was on today. Lovely to see everyone and a beautiful morning for a hilly 50k.

I have Ridgeway 86 in a couple of months, that's far enough for me!
Course you are. Splendid. Good luck!
Yo @smillbery.bsky.social, were you NTing this year?
Oh were you!! Hope i wasn't too shirty! Thanks for your help, much appreciated. ๐
Yeah it's a race, about 100 entrants. But it does spread out quite a bit so by the second half you're basically on your own.
South Downs Way finger post sign with sunset in the background.
Long-ass day at the outdoor office. The miles tick by extremely slooowwlly when you're hiking in the gloopy mud. Still, finished the bastard this year. ๐ช #wd100 strava.app.link/GAtYEz9u5Yb
WD100 route
Today's long jog, and much of tomorrow too I expect. Dark, cold, muddy type 2 fun. ๐ช #wd100
Badge for Winter Downs 100 by Centurion Running. Purple with a stylised windmill that has a snowflake for blades.
Signed up for another bash at this after DNFing at the half way mark last year. Still plenty of places left. #WD100 #ultramarathon
Corn just sprouting in neat, straight rows.
Pacing gig at TP100 didn't happen due to a race-ending dog incident early doors, long story. Easy 90 mins out on local trails this morning instead. Race envy had me booking a place at CW50. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Load of sugary snacks
How many snacks do you need for a 200 miler Cilla? Lorra lorra snacks.
Sunny weather all day in the forecast.
Well there are worse weather conditions in which to spend 8 hours out on the trails. Could we have this on Northern Traverse please? Answer, yes, for about 15 minutes.
It's a bastardised version of it, but also needed to get home. I'm being dropped off at Bix, HHish loop then 10 miles home on foot.
Route for a long run. Chilterns, Oxfordshire, Berkshire.
Route for tomorrow's day on the trails. 8, 8 and a half hours. 4 of running, 4 hike/shuffle. Full NT pack and kit, carrying all fuel and hydration needed. Practice for the big one, just 5 weeks away now. Eek.

Clear blue sky, woods in the distance, a trail through a green field awaits the swift hiker.
Lovely out. Tomorrow's strong hike today. Clicky clacky half marathon plus a bit. Triffic.

Low sun through trees
Lovely jog out on icy trails. ๐
I had this issue (retching etc) for the 1st time a few weeks back, miles 30 to 50 on a 100. Taken aback I bailed at half way. I'm nearly sure it was insufficient fluids and/or salts. Could've fixed it, perhaps, given a bit of time and insight. Lesson learned.
Me with snowy background.
1hr strong hike in the slushy mess. Cold feet.
Easy 60 to get back on the long jogging horse, so to speak. 3 months to prepare for Northern Traverse.
