🐣 Today is 21 March 2026, which marks the 20th anniversary of the first ever tweet being sent – the soft launch of what became #Twitter, before Elon Musk destroyed it. To reflect on the occasion, those nice folks at @gesis.org interviewed me the other day:

To mark the 20th anniversary of Twitter/X, we conducted a fascinating interview with Prof. Axel Bruns Axel Bruns about the network’s tumultuous history.
"Twitter became a new battleground in ideological struggles around the world."
Check out our Web Data offers. We are continuously working on collecting different types of data from various web platforms:
Prof. Dr. Katrin Weller works on research data management and data archiving, with a particular focus on the unique challenges posed by data from online platforms in these areas. Her work also includes research on scholarly practices and data infrastructures, for example in the context of the DSA.
